What’s Going On with Hoboken Street Cleaning? Snow Removal Schedule + Other Updates

cleaning services

The ice is (sort of) thawing, and the snow is starting to melt around Hoboken while crews continue to clear the frozen mess from the streets. The City has implemented overnight snow removal, but confusion remains surrounding when and why residents need to move their cars. Street Cleaning briefly resumed on Monday, February 2nd, but was suspended again in response to resident feedback. We reached out to the City directly to get a clear answer on the situation. Here’s what you should know about the snowplowing and street cleaning schedule in Hoboken.

What’s the Status of Snow Removal?

The City of Hoboken posted online that overnight snow removal is currently in place of daytime snow removal, allowing the city to clear more parking lanes on more blocks with fewer traffic disruptions. Crews are working from both ends of the street towards the center to clear and transport snow from parking lanes to a stockpile location, according to the City.

Stay on the lookout for temporary “No Parking” signs being put up around Hoboken. If drivers don’t move their cars in time for the overnight slow plowing, they may be subject to ticketing or towing

There are rolling street closures in Hoboken to efficiently remove snow from parking lanes. Police officers are on site to help with detours.

Here’s the snow removal schedule as of February 4, 2026, between the hours of 7PM and 7AM. This schedule is subject to change. All vehicles must be removed starting at 6PM:

  • Wednesday, Feb. 4: Clinton Street from Newark Street to 14th street
  • Thursday, Feb. 5: Madison Street from Newark Street to 15th Street
  • Friday, Feb. 6: Grand Street from Newark Street to 15th Street
  • Saturday, Feb. 7: Hudson Street between 15th Street and Observer Highway
  • Sunday, Feb. 8: None
  • Monday, Feb. 9: Garden Street between 14th Street and Observer Highway
  • Tuesday, Feb. 10: Park Avenue between Observer Highway between 14th Street

The City is also continuing snow removal along Washington Street all week, clearing loading zones and fire hydrants along the road.

If crews are unable to clear the streets during the allotted overnight time, they will return to any unplowed streets during their next scheduled street cleaning. Review the street cleaning schedule online here

What About My Car?

If you need to shovel your car out of the snow, the City reminds residents not to shovel snow into the street or on the sidewalks. Residents should try to shovel the snow onto the curb, allowing for the sidewalks and roads to stay clear. Vehicles that remain parked and impede snow removal operations will be subject to a fine

Property owners are responsible for clearing snow and ice from the sidewalks, curb cuts, and curb ramps adjacent to their property. If they don’t clear the snow and ice, they could be subject to fines between $250 and $2,000.

There is discounted garage parking available. If a local has a Resident On-Street Parking Permit, they can park in Municipal Garage B at 28 Second Street and the Midtown Garage at 371 Fourth Street at an overnight rate of $6 between the hours of 6PM-8AM. Garage parking is first-come, first-served.

What About Street Cleaning?

The City briefly resumed regular Street Cleaning on Monday, February 2nd, but as of Wednesday, February 4th, has suspended street cleaning again due to resident feedback. Per a Nixle alert, the City has suspended street cleaning operations on all other streets until additional overnight snow removal is completed. The City anticipates street cleaning to resume next Monday, February 9th. When it resumes, more parking lanes will have been cleared for residents who will need to move their cars for street cleaning.
