After hearing about signage being put up for a new fish market and raw bar coming to Hoboken, there’s also some seafood news happening in Jersey City. A new seafood-forward restaurant — called Blue Anchor Bar + Kitchen — is coming to the Newport section of Jersey City this year inside The Beach complex on the JC waterfront. The Details
While there’s not much information yet about Blue Anchor Bar + Kitchen, we do know that it will be opening up in the fall of 2023 and will be located inside Jersey City’s The Beach — a waterfront apartment complex in Newport.

The eatery will take up the northernmost retail space on the ground floor of the building. Per Jersey Digs, Jersey City’s Alcoholic Beverage Control Board is slated to hear an application to transfer a liquor license to the address of 166 River Drive later this month, which will be the location of the new restaurant. The ownership team includes restauranteur Johnny Leung, who runs Jersey City restaurant Komegashi Too.
No food items have been announced yet, but Blue Anchor Bar and Kitchen is looking to deliver a coastal dining and elevated casual seafood experience to guests. The menu will be seafood-forward, showcasing fresh ingredients. As for the drinks, the menu will include a variety of handcrafted cocktails, an expansive wine list, and various beers. There will also be outdoor seating with waterfront views in warmer months.
