A night of pure elegance and luxury is the only sentence that comes to mind when thinking of our time at one of Jersey City’s newest steakhouses Ruth’s Chris, located at 499 Washington B0levard. Known as a “legendary method,” this authentic American cuisine is nothing short of amazing. We recently checked out the new restaurant shortly after it opened, and were impressed, to say the least. Here’s more about Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse in Jersey City:

Not many restaurants can boost a four-decade lifespan, but Ruth’s Chris can. Starting off at just Chris’ Steakhouse in New Orleans, Louisiana, founder Ruth Fertel added her name to the establishment shortly after its opening and hasn’t looked back since. During our visit, it was easy to see hard work that has gone into building this brand from its inception.

Upon our arrival, the Ruth’s Chris team had a suggested menu waiting for us {because, fancy!}. The team will do this on request for date night or for large groups. Our waitress boasted a long career in the steakhouse industry and from that, we knew she was going to guide us in the best direction through all 4 courses.

If there was one thing that was consistent through the entire experience it was proper etiquette. From the bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon being stored at the precise temperature and transferred into its corral, to the pairing of knives to fit our cut of steak. Even though we were there really for the steak, the showstopper of the night was the Lobster Bisque {formal apology to all other bisques out there, this one may have you beat}.

Just as well known for their steaks are the complement dishes {AKA sides for us who are used to more common lingo}. We chose the roasted asparagus and mashed potatoes. Both dishes were seasoned to perfection with just the right amount of butter. Other popular sides include lobster mac and cheese, sweet potato casserole, and cremini mushrooms — so clearly, you can’t go wrong in the sides department.

The picture doesn’t do the taste justice, TBH. We were fairly warned when our plates came out—each steak is served on a 500-degree ceramic plate to ensure the steak is enjoyed at the ideal temperature. This is just one small part of the careful perfection that is seen in every detail of service. Our meal was topped off with decadent chocolate cake and cheesecake, just two of several dessert options.

As we looked around, other groups were enjoying their meal just as much. On any given night, tables are filled with couples out for date night, business gatherings, and birthday celebrations. If a full 4-course ordeal is not your style, Ruth’s Chris also has an extensive cocktail menu and happy hour. The restaurant is open early for lunch {11AM-3PM}, early evening for Happy Hour {4-7PM}, and for dinner from 4-9:30PM {Monday-Thursday}, 5-10:30PM {Friday-Saturday}, and 5-9:30PM {Sunday}.
