A fairly new bagel shop in Jersey City, City Bagel + Deli, has closed and a new restaurant will be moving into the space at 301 Grove Street. Per a Reddit thread, farm-to-table restaurant Bread Stone Cafe will be taking over in the coming weeks. The spot was originally slated to become the new Broa location before City Bagel took over. What We Know About Bread Stone Cafe
Per a thread in the Jersey City subreddit, Bread Stone Cafe will be moving into the former City Bagel space at 301 Grove Street in Jersey City. A sign on the front of the spot reads ‘Coming Soon Bread Stone Cafe December 10’ — hinting at a December 10th opening. Upon further research, a job listing on Glassdoor also revealed a (now expired) job listing for a Cook/Prep at Bread Stone Cafe in Jersey City. The Reddit post says that the new spot will be a farm-to-table restaurant, but no other details have been shared yet — we will update this post as we hear more.

The space is a historic two-story home that’s been around since the 1800s and has been used for a variety of different things. It “sports original wide-plank pine wood floors, several fireplaces, and a backyard patio,” according to a Jersey Digs article about City Bagel from 2022.
About City Bagel
Back in October 2022, Jersey Digs reported that signage went up for City Bagel + Deli at 301 Grove Street in Jersey City — and the spot officially opened up at the end of May 2023. The aforementioned sign on the building read, “Great bagels and good coffee — the best way to meet people.”
As for the menu, City Bagel served up coffee and bagels, among other dishes. The expansive menu also included breakfast platters, omelets, burritos, rice bowls + platters, salads, paninis, gourmet wraps, subs, a selection of appetizers, oatmeal bowls, acai bowls, smoothies, desserts, and more.
