Bookworms, this one is for you. The Jersey City Public Library x Reading Rhythms is collaborating to bring locals a free community-centric “reading party” to Jersey City on Friday, April 11th. The event will take place at New Jersey’s largest municipal library, the Priscilla Gardener Main Branch, located at 472 Jersey Avenue. The Jersey City Public Library will host a special, one-night-only, event called Reading Rhythms x Jersey City Public Library: A Taste of Jersey City. The event will be the first of its kind and is considered to be a “reading party that’s during the traditional library experience on its head” according to Samia Shahnawaz, Chapter Leader for Reading Rhythms Jersey City. Participants can cozy up with a book of their own to read silently and experience the library in a new way.

Reading Rhythms is a unique gathering of community-centric “reading parties”. The experience allows people to enjoy quiet reading time while surrounded by the warmth of others. The Reading Rhythms team also curates light music to play in the background while readers escape into books of their choosing. Samia shared with The Hoboken Girl that “Reading Rhythms: A Taste of Jersey City isn’t a book club. It’s not a panel discussion. It’s a community-driven, interactive event designed to bring readers together in a way that feels fresh, engaging, and uniquely Jersey City.” Adding, “this isn’t just another book event. It’s a celebration of what makes this city one-of-a-kind: community, creativity, and a deep love of reading.”

Reading Rhythms hosts events globally and has even been featured in The New York Times, Rolling Stone Magazine, Today, and the New York Post to name a few, and the group is excited to collaborate with the Jersey City Public Library on this upcoming event.
How to Attend

Locals can attend the event at 472 Jersey Avenue on Friday, April 11th from 6PM-10PM (reading starts at 7PM). The event is free but interested guests are required to reserve their spot here. Guests can bring a book to read (or pick one up from the library) and are encouraged to bring friends, family, and an appetite for some local food and beverages.
Bonus: Attendees can also sign up for library cards at the event will also receive a special limited-edition Jersey City tote bag designed by talented Jersey City artist, Kiki Buccini (@cutpasteface).
