Michelle Trachtenberg has been famous for a long time – quite literally her whole life, as she started acting as a child. She’s known for her roles in “Gossip Girl,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “17 Again,” and more. Trachtenberg was born and raised in Brooklyn, and she still spends a lot of time in New York City, which gives her direct access to some of the best things Hoboken has to offer.

One of Hoboken’s best is Electric Picks Jewelry, founded by best friends MJ Carlson and Chantel Gia. The brand has shot to fame of late and is available in major retail chains like Nordstrom and Anthropologie, as well as online on Revolve. It’s also available at Hoboken’s own Margo Market and Brooke and Bel.
The company was founded in 2011, borne out of a dream, which has since been realized. MJ and Chantal work with local New York City metalsmiths to revitalize vintage pieces and design and produce their own one-of-a-kind styles.
In addition to selling full-time at popular retailers, co-founder MJ Carlson is partnering with LoveShackFancy, a local fashion brand, for a pop-up event. Through the partnership, MJ will host a trunk show and meet and greet at a LoveShackFancy store in NYC.
The brand is also actively involved in giving back to the community and donates to several charitable initiatives across the greater New York City area. Though the duo has offices in both Hoboken and Los Angeles (where Chantallives), many of the initiatives the brand supports, including Meals on Wheels, River Fund New York, Dress for Success, and more, are in the New York and New Jersey area.

Michelle Trachtenberg is not the first celeb to be adorned with some of Electric Picks designs. The jewels have been spotted on Hailey Bieber, Britney Spears, Sofia Vergara, and more. The buzzy brand has been shining from celebrity arms, necks, and ears for a few years now, and things are only looking up from here. Hoboken-based Electric Picks is making a splash in the fashion jewelry world while making sure to give back as well.
Check out the brand’s website, or head to a local business to shop pieces from Electric Picks. All pieces are in the $100 range and range from earrings to necklaces to bracelets.
