Hoboken is currently one McDonald’s short… but only temporarily. The fast-food restaurant, with only one Hoboken location at 234 Washington Street, is currently undergoing renovations and will be closed until May 3rd. The interior is gutted, the phone is disconnected, and all mobile orders are paused — but rest assured the Golden Arches are here to stay. Here’s what’s going on at the Hoboken McDonald’s.

The Details

On Monday, April 8th, The Hoboken Girl received numerous inquiries regarding the Hoboken McDonald’s. One reader said: “Any info on what’s going on with the McDonald’s on 3rd and Washington? Walked by this morning and looked like it was being gutted.”

Online orders are temporarily paused and the phoneline is disconnected. The Hoboken Girl reached out to McDonald’s Hoboken but did not receive a response.

This isn’t the first time in recent months that the Hoboken McDonald’s made headlines. In February 2024, police responded to “McDonald’s, 234 Washington St., on reports of a street fight involving up to 10 people.” During the fight, a Bergen County man stabbed another man and has since been arrested in connection to the stabbing. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital with non-fatal injuries to his wrist and sternum, according to Patch

Though McDonald’s will only be closed for a month, there are plenty of other local spots to get burgers and other quick fixes. Dipped ‘n Smashed, a build-your-own doughnut and burger joint, has turned into a viral sensation for its decadent dinner and dessert combos, while Jerrell’s BETR BRGR is a completely vegan option that tastes like the real deal.
