We lean on the adult-friendly side but are very accommodating to kids and adults of all ages,” Mark told Hoboken Girl. “We offer online booking and contactless checkout, so you can book your appointment, pay, and tip — all before you arrive.”
In addition to running a smooth ship, there are a couple of special moments that Mark says are the best part of running his business. “When I’m cutting hair and the client in the chair next to me is telling his barber how much he loves his haircut and/or the barbershop and he has no idea that I’m the owner right next to him. Also the feeling you get when you look back at the team you’ve built this far and knowing it just works.”
As he looks to the future he hopes to maintain the consistency and quality they have built in Hoboken, grow the Jersey City shop, and potentially and selectively expand.

“The barbers only cut hair, they aren’t responsible for anything else so all of their attention and focus is on the entire haircut. I also believe we are well known for being good at beards both short and long. Our barbers excel in all hair types and lengths. We are versatile with clippers as well as all scissor men’s haircuts.”

Both locations are staffed with a full-time manager, from open to close. There is always someone there to answer the phone, grab you a beverage, hang your jacket, and take payment.
“We blow-dry and style every haircut, you’ll never walk out with wet hair,” mentioned Mark. “We have a lot of customers who come only for their beard. We treat every beard as a separate service from a haircut. We perform a hot towel shave for every beard trim, we use hot towels and hot lather for every haircut.”
For the loyal customer, Markdaniel Barbershop offers a complimentary neck clean-up in-between haircuts. Mark prides himself on running a transparent business, with the goal of making sure everyone feels comfortable when they walk in, whether or not they are getting a haircut, including pups!
