For the first time in 10 years, the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks show took place on our side of the Hudson in Jersey City in 2024. This year, though, the display is moving back to the East River, launching from the Brooklyn Bridge with four surrounding barges positioned on the water. While our neighbors across the Hudson will get a front-row seat, Hoboken and Jersey viewers can still see the action locally. Read on for what to know about the 2025 Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks show and our team’s picks for where to see the display in Hoboken + Jersey City.

The 2025 show will be a celebration of New York City’s 400th anniversary. “The Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks show is one of New York City’s most iconic traditions, drawing thousands from across our city, the country, and the globe to witness a world-class celebration of America’s birthday right here in the heart of the Big Apple,” New York City Mayor Eric Adams said in a statement. “As we celebrate 400 years since New York City’s founding, we’re thrilled to welcome the crowds, once again, to experience an unforgettable Independence Day at our world-famous Brooklyn Bridge and East River skyline!”

Each year, the festive event features a lineup of live performances. More details about the music lineup and the best places to view the display in NYC will be released soon. For future announcements, see Macy’s website.
