We’re sharing a first today, and one we’re pretty excited about. While we feature many, many fabulous boss babes that deserve recognition, we thought we’d switch it up and feature some local guys who are doing awesome things. Introducing our first ever Hoboken Guy{s} of the Week — Eric Hernandez and Justin Watwood who own local furniture company, Love Mid Modern {and serious #couplegoals, might we add}. Read on to learn more about them, their business, and some local favorites:
On What Inspires Them, according to Eric:
Justin and I both came from very humble backgrounds and we have been blessed with amazing opportunities. Because of this, we are our own motivation. We have aspirations of traveling the world, retiring in Puerto Vallarta, and just living life to its fullest.
Goals + Passions
This year we have had many changes in our lives. Justin and I got married this June in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico along with 100 of our closest friends and family members. Then in July, we made the full move to New Jersey. Our goal for the year is to get to know our community better, make new friends, and try a ton of new restaurants.
Typical Day in the Life
The funny thing about being an e-commerce store is that we are just like a regular brick and mortar small business. We open our store, we greet customers with a coupon deal, invite them for a chat, and let the customer shop around the store. If they decide to buy something, then we check them out and invite them to come back. The only difference is that our store is open 24/7 and we don’t need to be physically there.

The Highs + Lows
The highs are getting new sales or new inventory and the lows are when orders are slow or when we run out of inventory and our customer really wants that product.
Highlight of Their Careers {So Far}
For many of us, the American dream is about owning your own business. This is the second business Justin and I started up, and after the first business, we would always tell people that everyone should open their own business, if anything, for the experience it gives you. It takes a ton of work and dedication, but the rewards and lessons are invaluable.
What a Day Off is Like
Justin and I try to stay healthy and fit. We both like to run, ride our bike around Liberty State Park, or hit the gym. But don’t get it twisted, we also like to binge watch Netflix shows and cook dinner at home. That’s relaxing for us.
Advice to Someone Trying to Pursue the Same Career Path
My favorite quote is “we are the infinite field of unfolding possibility” by Bernard Shaw. I truly believe that we can achieve anything we want as long as we believe in ourselves, keep a positive attitude, and never give up when things get rough. Just go for it!
