On Saturday, March 2nd, 2024 — there were reports of delays and suspensions of PATH lines as well as cross honoring, system-wide. A person was struck and killed by the oncoming train near the Grove Street PATH station in Jersey City.
The PATH tweeted several alerts, including suspension of the Hoboken and JSQ-WTC lines, and delays and cross honoring of passes in effect.
Residents took to the Citizen App to report the situation, with several eye witness accounts sharing that it appeared that someone was hit and killed by a PATH train.
“Someone got hit by the path,” an eyewitness account shared on Citizen. “I was in the train, it came to an abrupt stop.”
Another user noted the “police/fire brigade” and a stretcher.
We confirmed with Jersey City and Port Authority sources that there was a casualty, in which the JCFD and Port Authority police assisted.
Per an article from Jersey City Times on April 5th, a Port Authority spokesperson said there was no indication of foul play, and the investigation is still underway.
