Near the heart of Journal Square, Yubi’s 78 occupies a quaint space on the bustling Newark Avenue with various stores and restaurants. Owned by Luis Yubi, whom the restaurant is named after, uses fresh ingredients in every dish and dessert. Yubi’s opened its doors in November of 2023 and is open for lunch and dinner service. Yubi’s prime location just adds to the already populated avenue.

Its warm atmosphere and classic aesthetic complement the cozy booths and tabled seating throughout the dining area. Though a bit small, the space is used beautifully with the tables spaced out to fit comfortably, and a big party is easily accommodated by using the long tables along the walls. Three giant screens have been built into the wall, presenting a warm fireplace to amplify the ambiance of a cozy setting with family and friends.
The counter near the back of the dining area has a fully equipped espresso and coffee bar. Yubi’s coffee options are extensive as coffee includes espresso, cappuccino, latte, americano, iced coffee, and of course, regular coffee. The coffee bar makes an extremely rich and robust coffee, making a cup after lunch or dinner very enticing.
The Menus
Yubi’s has a lengthy lunch menu that showcases appetizers such as mozzarella sticks, calamari, and an insalata capese. Some sandwiches include Jersey 578, chicken pesto, and sausage + peppers. Popular pastas are chicken frances, shrimp scampi, and the eggplant parmigiana. Salads include a mixed green salad, Caesar salad, and di casa salad. There is also a lunch special that includes a drink of juice or soda. Some drinks are coffee, sodas, and San Pellegrino sodas.
The dinner menu is scattered with specialty dishes which include NY strip steak, salmon, and risotto di casa. Pastas are lasanga, fettuccine a la carbonara, and rigatoni bolognese. Some sides are sauteed spinach, mashed potatoes, and meatballs. Desserts are tiramisu, cheesecake, cream brulee, and a brownie with ice cream. Its drink menu displays various coffees, teas, sodas, and a sangria mix. Yubi’s is BYOB with no corking fee, opening up the options for alcoholic beverages.

Yubi’s 78 Italian Restaurant is open for lunch and dinner from Monday through Saturday 11AM-10PM and on Sundays from 3PM-10PM. Yubi’s also has takeout and delivery services by calling its number and reservations can be made through Google or Yelp.
