Business in Hudson County has a knack for making each holiday seem special with decorations and community events, but nothing beats Halloween. Jersey City’s Historic Downtown Special Improvement District (HDSID) Halloween Family Bash is back this year for another memorable celebration of the spookiest day of the year. On Monday, October 31st from 3PM to 8PM, the community is invited to gather at the Grove Street PATH Plaza and Newark Avenue Pedestrian Mall for a one-stop shop of (almost) all-day fun. This family-friendly afternoon will feature festive fall activities like face painting to add a touch of whimsy to any costume, fun games to play, an inflatable corn maze to find your way through, a mechanical pumpkin, scarecrow slide, pumpkins to paint and take home, sand art to create one-of-a-kind designs, and a design-a-doll booth. The set up will also feature a Halloween 4-in-1 thrilling combination of a bouncy area, basketball hoop, climbing challenge, and a slide. Of course no Halloween event is complete without candy and sweets for little Trick-or-Treaters.
This year’s Halloween event also includes live music from local musicians including Native Tongues by the Break-a-Leg Entertainers, Hole by Sofa Oro and the Doll Parts, ABBA by Howlin’ Bill, Def Leppard by The Hoboken School of Rock, and Taylor Swift by Emily Gabriele + Junior Jewels. Music for the event is supported by public funds from the Jersey City Arts and Culture Trust Fund. The HDSID is currently accepting vendor applications to help make this year the best Halloween celebration ever.
The Historic Downtown Special Improvement District works with local businesses, property owners, and neighborhood associations in conjunction with the City government to promote the area, improve the services provided and undertake any and all activity to make Historic Downtown Jersey City a better place to live, work, and visit.
