Iron Culture, known as one of the Metropolitan area’s most elite training facilities, has opened a second location in North Bergen. Nearly four years after the luxury gym opened in Cedar Knolls, New Jersey, Iron Culture put down its roots at 7700 River Road. Now with first-class amenities such as saunas and a member’s lounge, the new large fitness space is one-of-a-kind in the area. A Second Location

Iron Culture’s first location at 8 East Frederick Place, Suite 104, Cedar Knolls, first opened in June 2019 and was founded by Arthur Imperatore Jr., an NPC (National Physique Committee) bodybuilder, and Charles Addessi, who also works as the physical therapist director for Paramount Gym in Matawan, NJ.

Just over six months of opening, the “hardcore” gym surpassed 500 members. “Iron Culture goes far beyond any franchise gym—we have created a real community where people are finding connection, hope, and healing, and people are celebrating the brand,” Charles told Insider NJ at the time.

It has since attracted top bodybuilders in the fitness community, including 2018 Mr. Olympia Shawn Rhoden, Guy Cisternino, Steve Laureus and Shaun Clarida.

In October 2022, the North Bergen location officially opened and is “over three times the size” of the Cedar Knolls location. However, it wasn’t until March of this year when the luxe gym held its ribbon cutting ceremony with North Bergen Mayor Nick Sacco and other committee members.

”I was well aware of this particular location and knew that the area needed a first-class gym. I grew up in this part of New Jersey and used to work out in the same building when it was East Coast Fitness,” Arthur Imperatore Jr. told Hoboken Girl.

“Iron Culture is a second career for me, having spent most of my working life at family business, New York Waterway. This is very much my passion and my dream, and I have been blessed with great success in pursuing it. I just turned 60, and I say that it is never too late to follow your dreams.”

The North Bergen location of Iron Culture opened October 19, 2022 and the founders say that they hope to open a third location within the next 18-24 months.

The 9,800-square-foot space has a lot of features including a functional training area, indoor and outdoor turf, cycling room, power lifting room, group fitness room, and a Kids’ Club. There’s also a member’s lounge with “plush seating and wireless charging stations,” a supplement shop and a shake bar. The “spa-like luxury locker rooms” feature saunas, “rainfall showers with river stone flooring,” and towel service.

What’s Included

Iron Culture features state-of the art equipment by Arsenal Strength, Lifetime Fitness and Prime Fitness.

”We specialize in all forms of weight and strength training, and have gone to great lengths to select the very best weightlifting equipment from manufacturers all over the country – equipment that you could not find anywhere else,” Arthur shared.

The enormous gym offers personal training, group training, small group training and a variety of fitness classes. Classes include HIIT, bootcamp, cycling, boxing, and more.

More to Come

Coming in June, Iron Culture will open another exciting feature, The Recovery Room, which will be a new physical therapy center that will be equipped with massage, acupuncture, cryotherapy, IV infusions, and other therapies for recovery after a workout.

Arthur added: “Fitness seems intimidating – seeing people in better shape can be daunting. But we all start somewhere, and you shouldn’t be afraid to use the community to improve and ask for help. Here at Iron Culture, we are proud to have built such a community, one that is dedicated to wellness and personal transformation for people of any experience level.”
