Dutch’s Sandwich Shop, which currently has locations in Montclair and Hoboken, is preparing to bring a new concept called Dutch’s Express at 270 Grand Street. About Dutch’s Sandwich Shop
Dutch’s Sandwich Shop first opened in Montclair in 2023 at 16 Church Street. According to its website, the shop offers a mix of classic favorites alongside more creative, signature sandwiches. It was a lifelong dream of owner Amir Kamal to make sandwiches that combine his love of the arts and music into the joy of making sandwiches. The walls are decked out with famous fiction and nonfiction characters, and sandwich names are inspired by music and movie titles.
Dutch’s Sandwich Shop Taking Over Former GreekTown Location in Hoboken
The shop’s name comes from Amir Kamal’s late Olde English Bulldog, Dutch, and pays tribute to this beloved family member and built in best friend of Amir.
Crowd favorites on the menu include The Flying Dutchman, made with chicken cutlet, hot pastrami, melted pepper jack, grilled banana peppers, and Dutch Daddy sauce on a hero. Another popular choice is the “WHACKED!,” an Italian-style sandwich that’s chopped and tossed with mayo and romaine lettuce. However, the shop is perhaps best known for The Dutch Daddy breakfast sandwich, made with hot pastrami, bacon, two eggs, muenster cheese, and Dutch’s signature sauce on a brioche roll.
Amir told MG in 2023 that he grew up in New York City where he was exposed to cuisines around the world but that “nothing beat going to your local corner bodega, and grabbing some amazing breakfast and lunch sandwiches.” After moving to Newark, he aspired to bring that same bodega-style sandwich culture to Montclair after noticing a lack of grab-and-go options in the area.
Dutch’s Sandwich Shop has since expanded to Hoboken earlier this year, opening in the former GreekTown space at 86 Garden Street. Amir’s goal for the second location was to preserve the same charm and character as the Montclair shop while introducing a slightly different vibe and influence tailored to Hoboken.
New Concept in Former Cafe Dolma Space
Cafe Dolma opened in June 2018 as a reimagined version of Dolma Restaurant, serving coffee, breakfast, and lunch with a strong Mediterranean influence. The menu included egg sandwiches, salads, pastries, and dishes like za’atar avocado toast and Turkish-style poached eggs.
Little is known about when or why it closed, though its Google business profile marks it has permanently closed, and some Reddit users noted seeing the space boarded up in recent weeks and described it as an amazing breakfast gem in the area.
New Sandwich Shop, The Salty Cow, Opens in Bloomfield
In May 2026, the Dutch’s Sandwich Shop team shared with HG that it will be bringing a new concept to downtown Jersey City called Dutch’s Express to the former Cafe Dolma space at 270 Grand Street, near Mexican restaurant Tacoria.
“It’s going to be all the top best sellers of Dutch’s plus some fun exclusive things,” the team shared.
