During the week, Studio Beni is an appointment-only furniture store, selling couches, bookshelves, and other antique pieces. On weekends, the store at 216 19th Street in Union City starts brewing coffee and transforms into a little coffee shop. The owners tell The Hoboken Girl they wanted a different way for people to enjoy the space they’ve spent so much time curating over the years, and they’re looking to extend their service hours to certain weekdays. Here’s what you need to know about Beni Coffee, the weekend pop-up coffee shop inside Studio Beni in Union City.
Studio Beni
A Latino and Turkish couple local to the Weehawken area opened Studio Beni back in 2022. It started as a vintage furniture shop where guests could shop by appointment only.

“Our backgrounds are in interior design and furniture restoration, and we share a passion for collecting vintage furniture, art, and unique objects,” they told HG. Guests can browse Studio Beni’s Instagram to get a sense of what pieces are for sale.

There’s also a ton of history behind the space that houses the furniture store. The owners tell HG it was formerly Harry Houdini’s photo lab. Houdini started the film lab in 1916, and when that failed, it turned into his workshop. At that time, the location was in “West Hoboken” and is now part of Union City.
The building, called Hudson River Studios, has a variety of studio spaces available for film and television production and more.
Beni Coffee
The owners opened the weekend coffee corner in the fall of 2025, and guests can grab coffee and light bites from 9 AM to 4 PM on Saturdays and Sundays while browsing the one-of-a-kind finds.
Walking into the industrial building, you can smell the coffee brewing and hear the chatter of friends catching up over their morning caffeine. The vintage furniture makes the coffee pop-up look like an art piece itself, with sofas and chairs decorating the walls.
A blue and yellow stained glass window in the front of the store creates a unique glow along the brick wall when the sun hits just right. There are plenty of places to sit — fitting, considering it’s a furniture store.
“We wanted a way for people to enjoy the space that we had poured so much work into,” the owners tell HG. There is also a possibility that the coffee shop hours could extend to weekdays, but the owners don’t have a timeline for that yet.
Some of the items on the coffee menu include espresso, cappuccino, lattes, and matcha. The baked goods menu includes monkey bread, croissants, and sandwiches.
