The Retreat Cannabis

Ever since we broke news in 2024, we’ve been following along as a well-known Hoboken restaurant prepared to expand into the cocktail scene.  After nearly two years in the works, the team behind Anthony David’s is ready to open its new Hoboken cocktail bar, SRO, located next door at 107 10th Street. Ahead of the opening, The Hoboken Girl got a sneak peek at the space. Read on to learn more about SRO, Hoboken’s newest cocktail bar.

About SRO + How It Came to Be

In June 2024, Anthony David’s received approval to convert a former tattoo parlor into a cocktail bar. The space, located at 107 10th Street, is directly connected to Anthony David’s. While the restaurant was approved to extend its liquor license to the new location, the bar operates under a separate name and brings a completely different vibe from the longtime Italian spot. The concept was initially tentatively called Baby Girl, but in June 2025, the team confirmed that the two-floor space would officially be named SRO.

SRO is the latest concept from Chef Anthony Pino and Liz Pino, the well-known duo behind Anthony David’s and Bin 14. Their newest venture is a cocktail lounge inspired by the “sophistication and energy of New York City nightlife.” Designed by the Pinos themselves, the space feels intentionally moody and mysterious.

The beverage program is led by Ken Rosado, a New Jersey native with more than 20 years of experience in hospitality. His goal was to bring an authentic New York City cocktail culture to Hoboken, making SRO a spot for a pre-dinner drink or a vibey nightcap. The two-floor space will expand later this year with a downstairs listening room + lounge, currently slated to open in late spring or early summer. The downstairs space is expected to operate as a music-forward experience.

Co-founder Liz Pino shared with The Hoboken Girl that select design details pay homage to the building’s past as Hoboken Body Art. “Tattoo artist Victoria Lagano, who previously worked in the space, contributed tattoo-inspired designs incorporated throughout SRO — subtle nods that honor the history of the location while reimagining it through a new lens.”

The team describes SRO as “an intimate space ideal for stopping in for a drink before a night out—or settling in to close the evening with expertly crafted cocktails and atmosphere.” Later this year, SRO will expand with a listening room and lounge slated for late spring / early summer, also available for private events.”

The Vibe Inside SRO

HG got an early sneak peek at the space, ahead of its opening on Tuesday, February 10th. It’s a small, cozy cocktail lounge – seating only 20 people on its top floor.

SRO feels like the kind of place you stumble upon by accident and end up staying awhile. Large curtains (sewn by Chef Anthony) cover all the windows, so there’s no outside light. Instead, a floor-to-ceiling bar illuminates the space, with a few overheads above the barstools and tables.

The food menu is small, but mighty — classic handheld dishes elevated by Chef Antony and his team. We’re talking delived lobster eggs, beef empanadas, and yes, caviar (not our usual vibe but delicious nevertheless).

The idea is for SRO to be an upscale going-out option for uptowners, something Liz and Anthony feel is missing in the neighborhood right now. It’s designed to be a cozy place where residents can chill and enjoy each other’s company. A key detail for Liz and Anthony is the music, which is always on and always set at a volume where it’s loud enough to hear, but quiet enough to still talk.

SRO officially opens to the public on Tuesday, February 10th at 5PM. It will be open Tuesday – Sunday, operating until 1AM on Fridays and Saturdays. The team will release more details ahead of the opening.
