There’s nothing like the crisp scent of an evergreen tree to remind us that the holiday season is right around the corner. For those of us who go the route of the real tree, there are many options nearby with near-perfect specimens. While Charlie Brown’s Christmas tree had its charms, these tree shops, farms, and lots offer choices to fill the coziest studio to the largest living room with holiday cheer, and that one-of-a-kind experience. Read on to source this year’s tree, from DIY options to contactless delivery services.

Snap Fitness JC

New Jersey

14th Street Garden Center | 793 Jersey Avenue, Jersey City

This Jersey City spot right near the Holland Tunnel is great for those with a car but who don’t want to go too far. The Garden Center has everything needed to turn any space into a holiday wonderland. From trees to garlands to wreaths and poinsettias, it’s all there. There are also ornaments and other tree-trimming baubles available, including the always-critical tree stand. The Garden Center can deliver curbside for a fee to Jersey City, Hoboken, Weehawken, Bayonne, Union City, and Port Liberty. Purchase minimums apply for delivery orders. The store is open seven days a week from 9:30AM-7PM.

Anne Ellen Christmas Tree Farm | 114 Daum Road, Manalapan

This is the Christmas tree farm from a Hallmark movie. It’s been run by the same family for over 80 years, has pre-cut and DIY tree options, and a crazy-cute Christmas Shop that sells all kinds of decor. There’s even a holiday village nearby with an oversized igloo and other attractions. The Tree Farm is open seven days a week from 9AM – 8PM. The Village is open Wednesday-Sunday from 5PM-9PM.

Beethoven’s Veranda | 108 10th Street, Hoboken

Beethoven’s Veranda is a flower shop, but it also sells a variety of holiday accents including mini trees. It sells plants ranging from cacti to real Christmas trees to Poinsettias. All plants are locally grown, too. The shop also offers a full-service decorating service for the homes, offices, and entryways. It’s all custom, so prices vary. 

Bouquets and Baskets | 548 Jersey Avenue, Jersey City

A local florist situated right off Newark Avenue in Jersey City, Bouquets and Baskets often carries trees around the holidays. We recommend calling ahead at 201-216-1188 to check before heading over.

AXIS School of Dance

Cal’s Christmas Trees | Corner of Monroe and Paterson, Hoboken

Located in St. Joseph’s Church Parking Lot, Cal’s offers wreaths, grave blankets, trees, and more. Cal’s opened for the season on Sunday, November 21st. Call 201-394-8467 or 201-926-0868 for more info or stop by (hours TBD).

Casola Farms | 178 Highway 34 + Schanck Road, Holmdel

The family who owns and operates this farm traces its history on the property back 200 years. This year, Christmas trees will arrive on November 24th. In addition to the trees, there is a Christmas Shoppe on-site with all the indoor and outdoor decorations needed to trim the tree.  A.

Conover’s Farm | 3105 Hurley Pond Road, Wall Township

Conover’s Farm has over 3,000 trees to choose from, so the tree of all visitors’ sugar-plummed dreams is bound to be here. This specialty farm grows only Christmas trees and has been in business for over 40 years so the team knows a thing or two about trees. Customers can reserve a tree with a two-part tag. Remove the bottom of the tag, place it on the tree, and bring the top section to an attendant who will then process the tree. Trees range from 4 feet tall to over 12 feet tall in various shapes, including traditional, fat, skinny, dense, and open. Fairview Farm 

Christmas Trees | 91 East Mill Road, Long Valley

Fairview has Fraser Fir and Canaan Fir trees of all heights, and all the trees are pesticide-free. Stop into the gift shop for holiday decorations, wreaths, and treats. The farm sells hand-tied wreaths and garland using materials grown on the property. This farm is cash only and closes on December 19th. Visitors can cut their own tree (saws are provided), or ask a staff member for help. The staff will also help guests tie the tree to their cars. 

Hidden Pond Tree Farm | 4 West Field Road, Mendham

A visit to Hidden Pond Tree Farm is a fun outing for the whole family; even Fido can come. This dog-friendly farm welcomes well-behaved, leashed pups to join their families on the quest for the perfect tree. This year, the trees are pre-cut but the other seasonal activities on the Farm are a go: bonfires, marshmallow roasting, and hayrides are all in the mix. In addition to an incredible selection of pre-cut Fir trees of all sizes up to 20 feet tall, the farm sells wreaths, garlands, and other greenery made by hand from a material grown on the farm. A heads up – the farm does not accept credit card payments, so bring cash or a checkbook.


Kevin’s Tree Lot | 191 Grand Street, Jersey City

Customers can choose their tree on the lot or schedule contactless home delivery, which includes setup. When scheduling delivery, customers can also schedule a pickup for the end of the holiday season. The tree will get recycled into mulch without the customer having to do much more than coordinate the order. This year, Kevin’s has an exclusive tree available in addition to the classics, and it’s called a Quebec Fraser Fir. This tree is full and fresh, has strong branches, and is imported from Canada. The Carolina Fraser Fir has a classic Christmas tree shape with strong branches and a silverish color, and it sheds less.  Both the Carolina and the Quebec Fraser Firs are in stock now. The Pennsylvania Douglas Fir has soft needles and a fragrant scent and will be in stock soon.

Picea Acres | 50 S New Prospect Road, Jackson Township

This farm is all about variety. It sells Norway Spruce, White Spruce, Douglas Fir, White Pine, and Serbian Spruce. . There are balled trees and mini trees in addition to freshly-made wreaths and garlands. This farm is cash-only. Customers can cut their own tree or the staff will help out. 

Shale Hills Farm | 98 Pond School Road, Sussex

Shale Hills Farm may be as close to the North Pole as most of us will ever get. Visitors to Shale Hills can cut their own pine, spruce, or fir trees or get help from staff. The staff will also help visitors tie the tree to the car. There are plenty of other activities to make a full day of it: get a snack at the Candy Cane Cottage to enjoy while watching a movie in the Santa-approved Christmas Movie Theater. There are farm animals and other attractions as well. The farm is cash-only and all trees are $95 regardless of size. 

NYC Trees | Delivery Only

This option is possibly as easy as it gets: NYC Trees’ online ordering system walks customers through the purchase, offering options such as setup, adding on lighting packages, and tree disposal. Customers need to provide a certificate of insurance for deliveries (if appropriate), then schedule the delivery, and it’s an instant Christmas. Add-on purchases like extra lights, garlands, wreaths, ornaments, and mini trees are available as well. Trees picked up by NYC Trees at the end of the season are recycled. 

Westhaven Farm | 725 Route 524, Allentown

This year’s trees include Blue Spruce, Douglas Fir, Norway Spruce. While visitors wait for their trees to be wrapped, they can take a look at their wreaths, selection of holiday kissing balls, grave blankets, and pillows. Free hot chocolate and cookies will be given out to each guest, and wagon rides will be available, weather permitting.

Wintergreen Christmas Tree Farm | 14 Gorney Road, Lafayette

Wintergreen Tree Farm is one of NJ’s largest Christmas tree farms. The trees here grow more than 15,000 trees on 60 acres, with firs and spruces that are up to eight feet tall. Visitors can borrow a saw and a wheeled tree cart to transport your theira.

Wyckoff’s Christmas Tree Farm | 246 County Road 519, Belvidere

This tree farm has six types of trees available including blue spruce, Canaan fir, Concolor fir, Douglas fir, Fraser fir, and Norway Spruce. The Christmas barn features Christmas decorations as well. The farm charges $10 per foot including tax.

New York

Anne’s Treeland | 64-33 Woodhaven Boulevard, Queens

Here, the team hand-picks the trees to ensure that customers have the best to pick from. Open from the weekend before Thanksgiving until Christmas; visitors can rest easy knowing they will find a top-notch tree at Anne’s Treeland before Santa arrives. 

Greenpoint Christmas Trees | 814 Manhattan Avenue, Brooklyn

Known as NYC’s full-service Christmas tree company, it has been delivering to all five boroughs since 1990. Obviously, for interested parties who are residents of New Jersey, delivery isn’t an option, but the trees (starting at $99) and other items are still available for pickup. In addition to Christmas trees, there are also wreaths, potted evergreen trees, Christmas garland, grave blankets, tree stands, and fresh mistletoe.

Uptown Christmas Trees | Multiple Locations

The Trees at Uptown Christmas Trees are grown at Gopher Broke Farm in Vermont and brought into New York City for easy access. There are 19 locations throughout Manhattan, and in addition to trees, wreaths, garland, potted plants, tree stands, and other holiday items are available. Balsam and Fir trees are available in many sizes, including tabletop trees and ‘Charlie Brown’ sized trees.
