For those in and around Jersey City Heights, there’s a new brunch {et al.} destination has recently opened in The Heights — and it’s pretty damn delicious. Read on to learn all about how Central Bistro, located at 403 Central Avenue, is whipping up brunch in Jersey City Heights.
The Story Behind Central Bistro
The Central Bistro team opened their doors at the end of 2018 on the corner of Central and Thorne, which was previously Cinco de Mayo restaurant. Jose Sarmiento, manager of Central Bistro, opened this eatery with the goal of creating a space that makes customers feel like they are at home when they walk in the door.
From fresh pasta dishes to rotating daily specials, the kitchen is always creating something new for diners to enjoy. The menu at Central Bistro is quite extensive and they even have options that are gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan-friendly. Plus, they are BYOB.

All About the Food
For appetizers, the restaurant has a great selection of sharable bites as well as smaller sides like truffle fries and chips and guac. The crispy chicken wings with Asian BBQ sauce were outstanding and are a must-order at Central Bistro.
If you are looking for a cheesy dish, the Carozza will definitely hit the spot with its crispy outer layer topped with fresh marinara sauce. These two appetizers alone will leave you feeling full.
As far as lunch goes, the salad and sandwich options bring out all the favorites like fish tacos, a cobb salad, French dip, and much more. The lamb burger was also a favorite topped with tzatziki, feta, and pickled onions {so good}. No matter what you are in the mood for, the kitchen is ready to whip up anything your palate desires.
Now for the brunch menu.
Classic items like eggs Benedict, chilaquiles, and Nutella French toast are a few of the dishes you can expect from the Saturday-Monday brunch menu.
If you are looking for a heartier option, the brunch burrito is the way to go {don’t forget a side of home fries}. For a classic brunch staple, the chilaquiles were incredibly delicious and topped with spicy chorizo, queso fresco, and pico de gallo {a dish we will definitely be back for}.

Locale + Hours
The hours of operation are Tuesday-Friday 10:00AM-10:00PM and Saturday-Monday 9:00AM-10:00PM on Central Avenue. The owners hope to have their menu on a delivery platform in the coming months, so look for them on the likes of Seamless and UberEats.
