With the weather finally warming up and summer in full effect, it’s the perfect time of the year to hop on a bike and see the city from two wheels. Being able to experience Jersey City’s waterfront from a bike brings a whole new appreciation for our area and all it has to offer. Here’s a little pocket guide for what to do for the day on your bike!

Jersey City’s proximity to Liberty State Park is one of the many perks of the city. Located in the Paulus Hook section of Jersey City, Semicolon is where you should start your morning off with one of the delicious specialty lattes or smoothies. Don’t skip on the breakfast sandwiches, opt for the B.E.L.T. – a twist on the standard BEC we all know and love. The perfectly toasted house-made brioche and mayo sauce take this egg sandwich up a notch and will fuel you for the rest of the morning.

Now that you’ve got your caffeine and breakfast checked off, head towards the waterfront. Biking along the Morris Canal pathway provides beautiful views of downtown Manhattan with a glimpse at the Verrazano Bridge – there’s also a dog park where you’ll be able to see lots of pups enjoying the area as well!

Follow the signs for the Liberty State Park entrance right off Grand Street and before you know it, you’ll be face to face with Lady Liberty. Liberty State Park has endless views of Ellis Island, the Statue of Liberty, and Downtown Manhattan. This is a great place to stop and hop off your bike to enjoy your coffee and enjoy the views.

Once you’ve built up an appetite for lunch, head to the bustling downtown Milano’s Deli in the heart of Jersey City. You can create your own sandwich or choose from the list of specialty wraps and sandwiches on the menu. Go for the Italian sub, you won’t be disappointed. Be sure to ask about the daily specials before ordering. Sandwich secured? Head right up the street to the Exchange Place Waterfront for a scenic place to enjoy your sub.

End your day heading down the waterfront to Lokal Eatery. With stunning views of the city and a globally inspired menu, this spot is the perfect to cap off your day. There’s a happy hour from Tuesday thru Sunday from 4 — 6PM so be sure to catch that. The specialty cocktail list will satisfy everyone’s palette.

Try the Margaret Sames which is a tequila or mezcal-based cocktail featuring fresh watermelon juice which couldn’t be more refreshing in the summer months. Order all of the tapas and snacks the night away. You’ll be able to catch the sunset reflecting off the NYC skyline to cap off the end to your Tour De Jersey City Waterfront.
