Changes Coming to the Neighborhood Café
Three-Thirds Café, located inside the 3 Acres complex on 400 Claremont Avenue, has operated in Jersey City’s West Side since 2022. The café has always been rooted in a mix of ‘90s-style nostalgia and modern coffee culture, with attention to good vibes and creative menu items. Some of our favorites include the Carrot Cake Latte (yes, there’s actual carrot cake on top of the drink), and the Cloud 9 Matcha.
Three-Thirds Café recently came under new management, bringing leadership of more than 20 years of experience in the food and beverage industry to reimagine the café’s drink menus and food items. The manager is also formally trained as a pastry chef, bringing a level of expertise to the arsenal of impressive drinks.
Many items at Three-Thirds Café are made from scratch, and the café’s recipes are constantly being reworked. Three Thirds also works with a small group of local purveyors, including New Jersey-based juice business Juice Basin (and we always love to see those supporting small). The team has said to stay tuned for upcoming community events, which will become part of its schedule.
About Counter Culture Coffee, Its Grant-Based Roaster
Three-Thirds Café is especially unique for its coffee program, Counter Culture Coffee. Counter Culture Coffee is a local coffee roaster company committed to sustainability and transparency throughout the sourcing process.
Our favorite thing about Counter Culture Coffee is its Seeds program, which offers financial grants to producers + producer organizations that it directly works with. The goal is to implement sustainability projects that are considered beneficial, such as bike racks for baristas, pollinator gardens, and reusable cups. Each pound of coffee sold at Counter Culture Coffee gives $0.01 to the Seeds program, and over $580,000 has been allocated to its projects.
