Both brides/grooms and local restaurant patrons can rejoice — Battello is reopening its doors this month. The beloved waterfront restaurant, bar, and event venue located at 502 Washington Boulevard in Jersey City will be open officially for dinner on Thursday, January 24th, and continuing Sunday-Thursday from 5:00PM-10:00PM, and Friday-Saturday from 5:00PM-11:00PM.

A rep for the restaurant shared exclusively with Hoboken Girl that the restaurant will be open for lunch and brunch shortly after its weekend dinner debut, with happy hour soon following suit.

We’re THRILLED to have them return to the growing Jersey City waterfront scene, even if only for a weekend.  If you’ve never been to Battello, you’re in for a treat; the restaurant and bar, which originally opened in 2014, has some of the best views {not to mention cocktails and food!} on this side of the Hudson.

The backstory of the closing:

Beginning in mid-September of 2017, Battello was forced to close its doors for construction. On Thursday, August 3, 2017, Battello’s landlord, Newport Marine Holdings, LLC, verbally notified Battello that as early as the middle of September 2017, all operations at the restaurant must cease due to construction that will be performed by the landlord on the premises. The landlord has projected the construction will be completed sometime in early spring 2018, meaning all weddings and events during that time were immediately canceled.

Then, all of a sudden, in mid-August, the landlord notified Battello that they would have to cease any occupation of the property immediately — and that all access to the pier must be restricted as of 5:00 PM the day of the notification. The closing was upsetting news for all of Battello’s devoted customers, but particularly devastating for those who had weddings scheduled at the venue. In fact, two weddings were planned for that weekend. Fortunately, Battello’s wedding planners were able to help the brides find new venues in a pinch.

At the time of the unfortunate closing, a source shared that the two head event planners, Dominique and Jade continued to aid brides and grooms in finding other venue spaces through 2017 and early 2018.

Battello, we’re excited to have you back! Stay tuned for updates as they come.
