With temps in the single digits and snow piled in the streets, romanticizing this winter has proven difficult. Luckily, one Hoboken bar is here to lift our spirits with a delightfully over-the-top Valentine’s Day pop-up. The Waiting Room, located at 72 Hudson Street, continues its locally beloved tradition of festive experiences with hundreds of roses hanging from the ceiling, V-Day-themed cocktails, and new menu items. PS: talk about love at first bite, there are discounted specials during happy hour. Keep reading to learn more about The Waiting Room’s Valentine’s Day pop-up in Hoboken.
Valentine’s Day at The Waiting Room
The Waiting Room is a cocktail lounge in downtown Hoboken that hosts dinner, brunch, and of course, specialty cocktails. It’s part of The Light Group, a restaurant group responsible for many of Hoboken’s staple locations (Green Rock, Texas Arizona, River Street Garage, and McSwiggan’s Pub).
TWR is a downtown hotspot known best for its over-the-top festive events like The Summer I Turned Pretty watch parties, comedy nights, and happy hour specials. During holidays, the restaurant and bar draws crowds from Hoboken and beyond for its themed pop-up activations.
Valentine’s Day is no exception. This February, twinkle lights line the ceiling, hanging red and pink stem roses catch the glow, and candy Hoboken hearts fill the space. It’s the ideal backdrop for any kind of night out, whether that’s with the girls or a s/o.
Word to the wise: The pop-up runs now through February 19th, so make your rez while you can.
Happy Hour + New Menu Items
The best time to see the Valentine set-up is during The Waiting Room’s happy hour, which runs Tuesday-Friday from 4:30PM to 7:00PM.
HH at TWR features 25% off starters (think charcuterie board, empanadas, bang bang shrimp), five-dollar beer, seven-dollar wine, and nine-dollar seltzers. Some cocktails are also marked at $12, which typically cost $16- $18.
But if you can’t make it to Happy Hour, TWR is still worth a visit, especially with the launch of its new upscale dinner items like:
- Chicken Parmigiana: vodka sauce, fresh Mozzarella, and angel hair pasta
- Veggie Pizza
- Buffalo Cauliflower Bites with Blue Cheese Dressing.
- Steak Frites — HG’s pick, featuring skirt Steak, hand-cut fries, and cowboy butter
There are five new cocktails to try, featuring whiskey, rum, and vodka mixtures:
- Kentucky Royale
- Smoke Show
- Peachy Keen
- Rum Away With Me
But of course, our favorite drink on the menu is the Velvet Elvis, The Waiting Room’s newest espresso martini.
