Jen is the founder and Editor-in-Chief of Hoboken Girl. She started the site to discover and share the wealth of things happening in Hudson County. Her roots in the area extend to her maternal grandparents, who owned two textile factories in Weehawken and North Bergen. When not planning the next Hoboken Girl event/volunteer project or editing her life away, she can usually be found shopping at local boutiques, eating an Insta-worthy meal, walking her French bulldog + rescue pup, or watching the latest murder doc on Netflix with her husband.

    • Lululemon is not taking over the hardware store. That is just a rumor and it’s false. I am the retail broker representing the building.

    • I’ve been living in Hoboken for 6 years and have been to Helmer’s twice. The first time was lovely but the second time… hooboy.
When I asked the waitress if I could have a certain beer she said “no”. I waited for the “… just kidding! Of course you can!”, but it never came. There was an awkward silence for about 5 seconds until I said “okay… because… you don’t have it?”. “Yeah”, she replied. Another awkward silence followed.
It was one of the rudest interactions I’ve ever had with a server and I almost just stood up and walked out. I mean, who just says “no” to a customer when they place an order? Part of me will be sad to see that open-faced roast beef sandwich go. The other part of me will be glad no one else will be subject to that kind of treatment.
