Verizza {located at 152 Newark Street in Hoboken} recently opened its doors and is debuting a full menu of artisan apps, pizzas, and desserts. Three Italian friends who all share a common passion for pizza are the brains behind this brand. “Like all Italians, whenever we are home we indulge in the best the country has to offer,” Verizza’s founders shared with Hoboken Girl. “However, the major challenge we have always faced in the many years spent living outside of Italy was finding high-quality Italian pizza delivered to our doorstep.” This is how the concept of Verizza was born.

The partners have seen past success overseas with a similar chain of pizzerias that won several important prizes and were featured on prominent international publications including the NYT, CNN, and Taschen’s “Where To Eat Pizza”.

Verizza is hoping to shift the perception of pizza delivery, proving that gourmet pizza can be enjoyed in the comfort of your home and at an affordable price. Delivery is available for all of Hoboken as well as some parts of Jersey City.
The Pizza
It’s well-known that pizza can be made in many ways and forms. The team at Verizza believes that the current focus within the pizza delivery market creates a product that doesn’t properly capture Italian pizza.
Verizza aims to deliver a contemporary style of Italian pizza that combines fresh ingredients with a strong focus on the pizza dough. The proprietary blend of flours guarantees that quality and crispiness are not lost during delivery.

The recipe for the pizza dough uses several types of flour to make a dough that is fluffy yet crispy. Besides traditional Italian pizza flour, the team incorporates wholemeal varieties to add texture and depth of flavor.
When it comes to the menu, there’s really something for everyone. “Besides the classic toppings, we have crafted a selection of creative combinations, showcasing the best of contemporary Italian pizza,” one of the owners told Hoboken Girl.

Customers can pick from antipasti, salads, pizza, and dessert. The pizza selection is extensive — you’ll probably want to order a few different ones so you can really get a good sampling. There’s the Carbonara, which recreates the iconic Roman pasta dish in pizza form. The Parmense, which has tomato sauce, mozzarella, arugula, prosciutto crudo, and parmesan shavings. {Drool emoji.} And for veggie lovers, the Vegetariana is loaded with tomato sauce, mozzarella, grilled artichokes, grilled zucchini, grilled red peppers, and kalamata olives.
