The Mile Square + Jersey City are  jam-packed with events this weekend that you can not miss. So if you’re looking for plans, you’ve come to just the right place. From Cinco De Mayo + Derby Day celebrations, to live cooking shows, 10k runs, yoga, and grand openings, there’s surely something for every local {and visitor} to enjoy. As always, we’re your go-to for all the happenings. Here’s what’s going down:

Lutze Biergarten Opening: Thursday, May 4th from 5:00PM-10:00PM

 

Hello Hydration Sidebar

 The Hudson River Waterfront kicks off the summer season on the day before Cinco de Mayo with the opening of the Lutze — the first open-air biergarten on the waterfront in Jersey City that will feature, craft beer, German brews, cocktails, sangria, a variety of foods including bratwurst, pretzels, crab cakes, and a raw bar {on weekends} along with hosting live music and lawn games, fire pits + more. Located at 15 Second Street in Jersey City. There will also be a Cinco de Mayo party there on May 5th!

The Art of Tasting at Harborside Atrium: Thursday, May 4th from 6:00 PM – 9:30 PM

Food, wine + dancing? Sign us up! This Thursday, Art House Productions is hosting an evening filled with yummy bites {by some of the best Hudson County restaurants, that is}, wine tasting, and dance lessons by Swingadelic, right at Harborside Atrium in Jersey City {147 Harborside Financial Center}. And, it’s for a great cause: the fundraiser benefits expansion of theatre education programs in underserved public schools around Jersey City, and will also help give access to the arts within the JC community {by providing free arts festivals and shows}. Yoga Therapy To Balance The Koshas at Hoboken Urban Sanctuary: Friday, May 5th from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Get relaxed + rejuvenated this Friday with Devotion Yoga’s workshop {led by Brandt Passalacqua} that will teach you balance within the five koshas {aspects of self}. Participants will use meditation, asana, and pranayama techniques to ultimately get balanced + learn to lead a healthy lifestyle. Press Play at Hob’Art: Friday, May 5th from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM 

Hob’Art in Hoboken is holding an exhibition this Friday, that’s a must-see for art lovers: the exhibit, called Press Play, will feature work by visual arts + technology seniors at Steven’s Institute of Technology in a variety of mediums, including an interactive card game, a cooperative video game experience, a digital animated short, as well as a docu-vlog. Additional information on the digital exhibit can be found here.

Grand Opening at Vintage on First: Saturday, May 6th all day

Need a new vintage clothing store in your life? Vintage on First is officially opening its doors on May 6th, so make sure to stop by {302 1st Street, Hoboken} for their big debut! Shop locally-owned, collective vintage finds at their grand opening party, to add to your spring/summer wardrobeyou won’t be disappointed.

Newport 10K at Newport Town Square Jersey City: Saturday, May 6th at 8:30 AM 

The Newport 10K is every Hudson County runner’s dream: run along the scenic Hudson River waterfront, compete for a $15k prize, and reward yourself post-race with an after party at Newport Town Square {100 Town Square Place, Jersey City} that’ll have prizes, refreshments + a live DJ.

Spring Fling Boutique Crawl Hosted by AaRaa: Saturday, May 6th from 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Free Art and Mindfulness Workshop {ages 3-5} at Asana Soul Practice: Saturday, May 6th from 1-2 PM

Hoboken Historical Museum’s Black and White Masked Ball and Auction at David E. Rue Building: Saturday, May 6th at 7:00 PM

To experience an interactive, live culinary show like no other, you must check out Taste of Home’s live event at the Hyatt Regency {2 Exchange Place, Jersey City} this Sunday. The popular cooking magazine will be sharing recipes, as well as tablescaping + food decorating tips and tricks, so you can learn to be the hostess with the most-ess {FYI, if you bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Community Foodbank of NJ, you’ll be entered in a raffle to sit at the chef’s table on stage — which means sampling recipes throughout the show!}. Additionally, you’ll be able to purchase Taste of Home merch {including cookbooks that you absolutely need in your kitchen}. And 10% of the proceeds will go to the Community Foodbank as well.
