Anyone who is familiar with the town of Westfield knows just how picturesque and quaint it is — full of fun things to do and delicious restaurants to dine in. The downtown is chic and bustling with restaurants and shops, and there are some historical parts, too {random fact: the creator of the Addams Family is from here}. So if you’re looking for something to do while staying close to home this weekend, read on for how to spend a day in Westfield, New Jersey for a quick local road trip.

Things to Do

Tamaques Reservation Park {1101 Lamberts Mill Road}

This Westfield reservation and park is the perfect first stop for a day trip to Westfield. Complete with large, kid-friendly parks, definitely make sure to bring your little ones along with you.

This fun arcade will throw you way back to your childhood {and it’s currently open during the pandemic with restrictions}. You can find everything from pool tables and video games to those traditional arcade games like Pacman and Caterpillar that we know and love. This spot is definitely worth a stop for a day of adventure.

Hobbs Inc

Mindowaskin Park {385 E Broad Street}

Mindowaskin Park is another kid-friendly park in town, complete with small lakes, ponds, and jungle gyms. No day trip is complete without taking a stroll through the park to admire the gorgeous surrounding scenery.

Trader Joe’s {155 Elm Street}

Okay okay, fine, we know Trader Joe’s isn’t a new discovery. But while you’re in town you might as well stop at the only TJ’s that sells alcohol in NJ {and for much lower prices than you’ll find in Hoboken}!

Places to Eat

Westfield is surprisingly bustling with an extremely diverse portfolio of cuisine. They have everything from traditional steakhouses to savory Indian cuisine, and everything in between.

Notice the famous Addams {family} name again in this restaurant. Part of the Harvest group {you may be familiar with their other restaurants Tap Rock Restaurant and Brewery, Roots Steakhouse, and more}, this restaurant is sure not to disappoint. The traditional American fare has something for everyone on the menu and you’ll enjoy a premium dining experience at this locally well-known spot.

While there are many Italian restaurants in Westfield, Cosimo’s is second to none. You can’t go wrong with any of the pizzas, pasta, or hot sandwiches on the menu here. However, if you’re looking for something a little less traditional Italian, try the grilled salmon teriyaki.

Spice Bazaar {39 Elm Street}

Like we promised before, Westfield is chock full of diverse cuisines and Spice Bazaar is bringing the taste of India to town. On the same playing field as local favorite Karma Kafe, anything you order at Spice Bazaar from chicken tikka to traditional butter chicken will leave you wanting more.

If you’re a foie gras fan, you’ll definitely want to order this French delicacy, perhaps with profiteroles {cream puffs filled with cream or ice cream and garnished with chocolate sauce or powdered sugar} for dessert.
