Surreal Creamery, a national Asian-inspired ice cream and bubble tea shop, is coming to Hoboken. The new business will be taking over PromptMD’s former location at 1122 Washington Street. With a similar appeal to Milk + Cream Cereal Bar – think sweet toppings and Instagrammable dessert – Surreal Creamery’s creations are expected to be a hit, especially in the upcoming summer months. Opening In Hoboken

Although Surreal’s new location has yet to be officially announced on its website, Jersey Digs reported the creamery’s plans to open. The outlet noted that the company submitted an application to the Historic Preservation Committee, which was slated to be heard during a meeting that took place on April 3rd.

Per the documentation on the City of Hoboken’s website, the signage will take up the window display and feature a neon and electric LED sign for “Surreal Creamery.” The application was initially submitted in January and appears to be still seeking approval. The next meeting is scheduled for May, so hopefully there will be an update then.

Surreal Creamery’s most recent location opened in Ridgewood, NJ. They had a grand opening celebration on April 7th. There is also a location in New Brunswick and Westfield. Apart from NJ, the ice cream shop can be found in New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Delaware.

Jaw-Dropping Creations

A glance at Surreal’s social media shows that the shop’s specialty, the mason jars, is a must have. The flavors include: Chocolate Blackout (chocolate ice cream, chocolate crunch, chocolate syrup, cocoa puffs and Oreos), Earl Grey Everyday (earl grey ice cream, caramel syrup, Reese’s Puffs, and lady fingers), Matcha Made in Heaven (matcha ice, cream lucky charms, and caramel syrup), and It’s My Birthday (strawberry ice cream, fruity pebbles, strawberry syrup, and rainbow sprinkles).

Other menu items include classic milk teas, jasmine fruit teas, slushes, ice cream in a cup or cone, lattes, and milkshakes.

One other Yelp user shared: “Yum…The portions are huge – definitely for sharing! The price point may seem a bit high but the ice cream is a good amount and includes up to 4 toppings. There is a wide variety of toppings. We ordered the taro with boba, Oreos and condensed milk – delicious!”
