It was a long winter for New York sports teams, and if you’ve managed to make it through, it was probably with a beer in hand. As we head into spring/summer sports (ahem, baseball), The Shepherd and the Knucklehead, located at 1313 Willow Avenue, is fully stocked and ready to go. This local bar has over 40 beers on tap, a killer food menu, and a lively atmosphere for sports fans of all levels (and allegiances). Keep reading to learn more about one of Hoboken’s favorite sports bars, The Shepherd and the Knucklehead.
Sports for All Seasons
With nearly two dozen TVs, 40 beers on tap, and a *huge* menu of pub grub, The Shepherd + The Knucklehead is exactly what a sports fan would look for in a bar.
The Shep might be primarily known for its football festivities — both college and professional —, but it streams and celebrates just about every sport: baseball, hockey, basketball, etc. The space is massive and filled with tables, perfect for big groups to watch together when they can’t make it to the field. Owner Joe Schiavo, an avid sports fan himself, has worked hard to curate a vibe that’s fun for all kinds of spectators, whether they’re locked in on the game or are there for moral support.
The Menu + More
The Shep’s beer selection features some of the best local brews like Hoboken Cityside, Cape May IPA, and Warwick Winery Doc’s Apple Cider, in addition to the classics. The team can also whip up some pretty mean cocktails, ciders, wines, and spirits if that’s more your scene.
While we’re calling The Shep a sports bar, the menu is that of a proper restaurant, with both classic and inventive pub grub. The menu has everything from wings and burgers to tacos and wraps. We’re pretty loyal to the chicken Caesar wrap or the Philly cheesesteak, but honestly, you’ll be satisfied with whatever you order.
The Shepherd and the Knucklehead is located at 1313 Willow Avenue in Hoboken.
