Labor Day Monday — one of the most bittersweet days of the year, since LDW unofficially marks the end of summer {yes, we’re crying too}. But let’s not forget, since 1882, Labor Day has recognized the historical work of American laborers. While most people see this as their last day of freedom before hunkering back down for the cooler months, for those of you who aren’t heading to the beach or out of town, we have the low down on who’s open for business and what kind of specials they’re offering.
Pier 13 {1301 Sinatra Drive North, Hoboken}
With the exception of drink specials, Pier 13 will be open early, from noon – 11PM, and they’ll be holding a food eating contest. The winner will receive a gift card to Pier 13 / Gringo’s. Along with the food eating contest, Pier 13 will be collecting items for the people of Texas who have been affected by Hurricane Harvey. If you’re looking for a BBQ without having to do the work, then House of Que is your spot. Open from 11AM – 11PM, they will be celebrating Labor Day by launching their brand new food and beverage menu… who’s excited? {Raises hand.}
Pilsener Haus & Biergarten {1422 Grand Street, Hoboken}
Celebrate your Labor Day with Pilsener Haus’ Brunch and Industry Night. Some of their specials include $5 drink specials all day, a free order of wings with a full-price draft, as well as 25% off all full-price items when you show your bar card. Get there early and enjoy their Austro-Hungarian brunch from noon – 3:30PM.
Porta {135 Newark Avenue, Jersey City}
Open all weekend long, Porta will have DJs on the rooftop Saturday, Sunday, and Monday and will be opening their rooftop early on Monday at 1:00PM for the holiday. Enjoy adult slushees as well as food and drink specials all day {details to be announced — keep an eye on their Insta}.
Wicked Wolf {120 Sinatra Drive, Hoboken}
While most people are getting ready to spend their football Sundays at Wicked Wolf, make sure to stop by on Labor Day for some amazing deals. Open all day, they’re offering $3 Leinenkugal Summer Shandys/$15 Towers, $4 Coors Light 22oz Drafts, $4 Cherry Bomb Shots and $5 Vodka Redbull — with deals like these, try not to forget you do need to go back to work on Tuesday.
Mitchell’s Fish Market {541 River Road, Edgewater}
Make your way out of Hoboken and into Edgewater and enjoy amazing views of Manhattan, a large patio, and some of the most refreshing seafood and cocktails at Mitchell’s Fish Market. To celebrate, they will be offering two lobster tails with a side of smashed redskin potatoes and asparagus for only $22.
