    Labor Day Monday — one of the most bittersweet days of the year, since LDW unofficially marks the end of summer {yes, we’re crying too}. But let’s not forget, since 1882, Labor Day has recognized the historical work of American laborers. While most people see this as their last day of freedom before hunkering back down for the cooler months, for those of you who aren’t heading to the beach or out of town, we have the low down on who’s open for business and what kind of specials they’re offering.

    Pier 13 {1301 Sinatra Drive North, Hoboken}

    With the exception of drink specials, Pier 13 will be open early, from noon – 11PM, and they’ll be holding a food eating contest. The winner will receive a gift card to Pier 13 / Gringo’s. If you’d like to participate, please email info@pier13hoboken.com. Along with the food eating contest, Pier 13 will be collecting items for the people of Texas who have been affected by Hurricane Harvey. Similar to paying it forward, anyone who donates towards the cause will receive something back from Pier 13. Donations can be made all weekend. Go here for more ways to get involved.

    Daria moved to Hoboken with two of her best friends and considers it to be the best decision she’s ever made. As a total foodie, Daria has made it her mission to try every restaurant in Hoboken, and beyond. Having a Dad as a chef, (imagine three-course meals every night) she says that her love for food is basically in her DNA. At this point, anyone who knows her already understands that they automatically have to offer her a bite (or two) of whatever they’re eating. When she’s not eating or researching the menus of new restaurants, you can find her either running along the waterfront, taking a stroll along Washington St. or working in the city as a publicist.
