With the number of apartment complexes rising daily, Bayonne is well on its way to becoming the next hip place to be. Luckily, delicious food has never been a problem for this bay side town, and a whole slew of new spots have cropped up over the last few months, answering that often-asked question, “Where should I go for lunch/dinner/coffee today?” Just in time for summer’s adventure weather {and with options satisfying every type of food craving}, we’ve rounded up six new restaurants in Bayonne that you have simply got to try for yourself.

Bayonne Patio Bar + Grille {29-31 Cottage St.}

Taking the place of the old Venice restaurant {but keeping the delicious thin crust pizza on the menu}, diners will find a bit of the familiar here with a lot of updates and a contemporary menu {as well as a cozy outdoor patio for dining during the warmer months}. You’ll love the mouthwatering appetizers, like fried pickle chips and buffalo chicken dip {which you could eat as a standalone meal, tbh}, as well as burger sliders and creative sandwiches, making this a great option for lunch or dinner.

A-1 Grill {351 Broadway}

A new kid on the block as of winter, this unassuming little place on Broadway and 16th is one of the few eateries in Bayonne that features a well-rounded Egyptian/Middle Eastern menu. Dishes like shawarma and koshary {lentils with rice, fried onion, tomato, and chickpeas} and chicken taouk {a delicious marinated chicken dish}, will leave you more than satisfied since they certainly do not skimp on the portions.

Although the downtown location opened in Bayonne a little over a year ago, Perk Up Cafe recently expanded to another, smaller to-go location in the midtown area. This spot features lunch favorites that are updated frequently {including Cuban sandwiches and homemade chicken salad and eggplant parm focaccia}, while their coffee is definitely a must-have since their latte specials also vary weekly {Nutella latte, anyone?}.

Wasabi Thai {897 Broadway}

Formerly Sweet Chili, this tiny uptown restaurant is getting lots of praise for its Asian fusion dishes, including traditional pad thai and ramen. They also offer a unique lineup of sushi rolls including the Mind Eraser, Crazy Girl, and an HG fave, the Salmon Dream {seared salmon wrapped in lobster salad? Say no more!}. This place also features drunken noodles and pho, so no matter your Asian fusion craving, you’re sure to find a good meal here.

Café Nomis {493 Broadway}

Located {oddly enough} inside the Verizon Wireless store on Broadway, this cute + bright café is the perfect place for quick lunch eats — we’re talking a grilled chicken sandwich followed by yummy treats of cakes or macaroons. Also a great place for your Starbucks-type gourmet drink fix, Café Nomis features a wide variety of caffeinated bevvies that include caramel frappes, cappuccinos {topped with an insane amount of whipped cream}, and a limitless variety of bubble teas {and we mean limitless}.
