Navigating the culinary scene in Hoboken can be challenging for parents as life with a newborn or toddler is pretty unpredictable. There’s no way of knowing whether it will be a quiet dinner out or if there will be a meltdown before the menus arrive. The vast majority of restaurants in Hoboken are extremely family-friendly, but venturing out with kids in tow can be stressful. The following restaurants have great reputations among families and are happy to cater to the pickiest of tiny palates:

1. Pilsnerhaus Biergarten {1422 Grand Street}

2. Bare Burger {515 Washington Street}

bareburger

There are endless options for burgers in Hoboken, but none compare to Bare Burger when it comes to pleasing parents and kids. Everything is delicious and organic! Bare Burger has tall booths which is a lifesaver for keeping antsy kids from disrupting other diners. There are really great salad options for those who want to stay on track. If you feel like splurging, the shakes are AMAZING. It’s also a BYOB!

3. Ayame Hibachi {526 Washington Street}

Ayame is known for their hibachi which is always a favorite for kids! Who isn’t impressed with the flaming volcano or a dude who can catch shrimp in his mouth? Watch out, the servers have been known to squirt saki in the dad’s mouths from an unassuming condiment bottle! The sushi is also delicious and the pieces are huge. Added bonus: it’s BYOB!

4. Panello {720 Monroe Street, C105}

A much-needed new restaurant for families who live in the west section of Hoboken is Panello, a new addition to the Monroe Center. Whether you’re looking for handcrafted pizza, fresh salads or small plates, there’s something on the menu for everyone. It’s BYOB and be sure to order the Nutella pizza for dessert – it’s a big hit with kids! If you want to burn some calories before dinner, Panello is also a great place to meet the family after a class at Local Barre or Wheelhaus!

5. Elysian Cafe {1001 Washington Street}

Elysian Café has delicious food and an even better atmosphere, but perhaps the best thing about Elysian is Kids Night on Tuesdays. Children under 12 eat for free on Tuesdays with the purchase of two adult entrees. This is such a great deal and is a great opportunity to enjoy a weeknight out. Thanks to the romantic ambiance, you can almost pretend you’re on a date sans kids!
