Back in 2022, we reported the news that The Agency — a worldwide luxury real estate brokerage and lifestyle company founded by Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Mauricio Umansky — had partnered with Triplemint at its Hoboken office, located at 331 Washington Street. Known for being a top real estate agency in the Hoboken and NYC area, the Triplemint partnership marked an important milestone in Hoboken real estate. Less than two years after the announcement, the landlord of the building has confirmed with The Hoboken Girl that The Agency’s Mile Square office will be closing. The Closing

The landlord of the building where The Agency’s Hoboken office is located has confirmed with HG that it will be closing, the reason being that “no one wants to go into the office anymore.” The Agency has a large number of other offices worldwide and you can find all of the locations here.

Background on The Agency

While most Hobokenites might be familiar with Triplemint, some might not know much about The Agency (unless you’re in the industry… or you are a big Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fan!). The Agency was founded in September 2011 by Mauricio and agents Billy Rose and Blair Chang.

The Agency has listings all over the world, including listings in Central America, South America, Europe, Mexico, Turks and Caicos, and Canada. The company employs more than 650 agents and has more than 42 offices worldwide.

Mauricio brought attention to The Agency while on RHOBH. His wife (from whom he is now separated), Kyle Richards, has been a cast member on the show since the show’s first season in October 2010. Together, they have three daughters, Portia, Alexia, and Sophia. Mauricio is also father to stepdaughter Farrah Aldjufrie, who is also an agent with The Agency.

According to The Agency’s website, Mauricio has brought in nearly $4 billion in real estate sales. He even represented the Playboy Mansion, which sold for $100M in 2016, becoming the most expensive home ever sold in Los Angeles.

He previously said in a statement about the partnership, “The Agency is focused on continued global expansion… We intend to offer the 2.0 version of luxury real estate as we seek to provide a seamless, integrated experience for our agents, helping them to become better advisors and elevating their ability to provide a high-touch and high-tech experience for clients in a way that has yet to be seen in our industry. The $35-million raise [in growth capital] coupled with the acquisition of Triplemint positions us perfectly for this new chapter.”

The Previous Takeover

News of The Agency taking over Triplemint, which was founded in 2013 by David Walker and Philip Lang, was officially announced on May 3rd, 2022. Triplemint wrote on Instagram, “Triplemint is thrilled to announce that we are joining global luxury real estate brand, The Agency. Under The Agency name, we are combining the power of Triplemint’s proprietary technology with the global reach of The Agency’s luxury brand to power the future of our industry.”

The Agency X Triplemint’s campaign, “We’ve Met Our Match,” lets people know that they share the same ideas about real estate including being a collaborative culture, having a boutique approach, quality over quantity, and having fast-forward thinking tech.

On The Agency’s website, specific changes were written out: “We will offer an even more targeted, personal, and strategic approach to selling real estate. Our agents can provide data-driven insight that helps clients compete in the marketplace. With forward-thinking tech tools powered by Triplemint, the agent’s focus can remain on how best to advise clients to drive the most value in their decisions, both financially and emotionally.”
