A Fort Lee-based burger joint has expanded to Jersey City at 488 Central Avenue in the former Firehouse Blazing Pizza outpost. The pizzeria shut its doors in April 2021 after serving the Jersey City Heights community for three years. Now, Marty’s Burgers is the new restaurant on the block.

Debuting in 2018, Firehouse Blazing Pizza wasn’t your ordinary pizzeria. The shop was designed to replicate the inside of a real firehouse – think, authentic uniforms and tools as decor, and real photos of local firefighters, including the owner, Felix Santiago. Felix made history as the first Latino Captain of the Hoboken Fire Department.

The menu featured a variety of pizza flavors, which included gluten-free and vegan options, French fries, pasta, sandwiches, and more.

Marty’s, somewhat new to the Fort Lee scene as well, serves up burgers, a chicken sandwich, a grilled cheese, a griddle dog, mac and cheese, and a variation of fries, as well as desserts like a chocolate milkshake.

Patrons can build their own burgers using the five-and-a-half-ounce beef patty, and choose add-ons like avocado, smoked bacon, sauteed mushrooms, and fried egg.
