About Lorraine’s House of Styles
Lorraine’s House of Styles has been a staple in Hoboken for 20 years. Owner Lorraine Fred grew up here and noticed that there weren’t any salons in Hoboken that styled ethnic or textured hair. “As a child I had to do it all on my own. I wanted to open a salon for girls who looked like me, with my hair texture, and that can feel pretty too,” Lorraine noted.
Since the opening of Lorraine’s House of Styles, it has grown to be one of the leading high-end salons in town. The salon is Redken and Ouidad certified and has recently become Green Circle certified as well. Lorraine’s House of Styles is also a teaching salon.
“We take on beauty school students and graduates into our associate program, which consists of having them work directly under a mentor. Our associates get prepared for 6-12 months with a senior stylist to help build a successful career behind the chair. I lost my mother to cancer when I was 11 years of age. Growing up, I did not have many opportunities and had to make a life for myself without any help. Today, my focus is on girls coming from disenfranchised backgrounds. I want to be that support and that help for other girls who are experiencing similar hardships,” Lorraine explains of her passion behind the salon.
Services
Lorraine’s House of Styles offers on-site and off-site services for clients. The salon has two levels — the main floor where all hair services are performed, and then a lower-level where all bridal services, lash + brow services, and makeup are done.
The bridal team travels anywhere and everything — no destination is too far. They’ve also been featured in The Knot several times and have been in attendance for hair + makeup at Bridal Fashion Week the last three years.
The team Lorraine’s House of Styles specialize in color, precision cuts, as well as lash extensions, brow lamination, microblading, brow tinting + waxing, and makeup application services. Sustainable Initiatives
Lorraine’s has recently become a ‘Certified Sustainable Salon’ by participating in Green Circle Salons, which is the beauty industry’s pathway to sustainability. This means that up to 95% of salon waste is recovered + repurposed. They are the only salon in Hudson County to currently be participating in this innovative program. Unused color, hair trimmings, foils, and paper are all repurposed and won’t end up in landfills or waterways. This program is funded by an environmental stewardship fee which is included in the cost of your visit.
