Celebrate the most festive month of the year with singer-songwriters, bands, and other talented artists in Hudson County. The decade is almost over, but that doesn’t mean the amount of performances and concerts is slowing down. Check out some of these artists at your favorite local bars and venues. Read on to find out what live music acts are happening in Hoboken + Jersey City in December 2019.

December 1st — New Jersey Symphony Orchestra at 1:00PM @ Hoboken Public Library

Start off the holiday season right with music from the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, a free concert in the lower level of the Hoboken Public Library {500 Park Avenue, Hoboken}. The show starts at 1:00PM with music director Xian Lang. For more information, check out the Facebook event here.

December 5th — NJCU Jazz Guitar at 8:00PM @ Fox and Crow

 New Jersey City University’s jazz guitar ensemble will perform this Thursday at the Fox and Crow in Jersey City. This group of guitar majors with chamber music experience is directed and coached by Dr. Ana María Rosado. Don’t miss this awesome event at 8:00PM. Find out more details here.

December 6th — Horton’s Holiday Hayride at 7:30PM @ White Eagle Hall

A concert for all ages, Horton’s Holiday Hayride will feature music from Reverend Horton Heat, Voodoo Glow Skulls, The 5.6.7.8’s, and Dave Alvin. All four artists will ring in the holidays with some festive tracks and originals too. The concert starts at 7:30PM and tickets range from  $27.50 to $30. For more information, head here.

December 7th — Nine Deeez Nite at 11:00PM @ Willie McBride’s

 Throw it back to the decade of pop-punk and low-rise jeans with this ’90s tribute band, Nine Deeez Nite. They previously opened for the Red Hot Chili Peppers at Metlife Stadium and perform at Rutgers University Dance Marathon each year. Featuring songs by artists like the Backstreet Boys, Vanilla Ice, and Snoop Dog, this four-man band is sure to bring out your inner teenager. Check it out here.

December 8th — A.C.E at 7:00PM @ White Eagle Hall

South Korean KPOP group A.C.E will perform at White Eagle Hall next Sunday at 7:00PM. They will feature their latest album “Under Cover” with each of the five members’ talent showcased. Doors open at 6:00PM and tickets range from $55 to $145. For more information about the event, head here.

December 11th — Beninghove’s Hangmen at 8:30PM @ Fox and Crow

Composer, writer, singer, and philanthropist — Bryan Beninghove is set to perform in his home area. After five albums, Beninghove is a veteran in the industry with his music being heard by large audiences and networks such as Bravo TV and Comedy Central. The show starts at 8:30PM and you can learn more information here.

December 12th — Silent Night Deadly Night Show at 8:30PM @ FM

 The Silent Night Deadly Night show at FM Restaurant, Bar, and Lounge in Jersey City will feature bands like Jynx, Concrete Dream, This Curse, and Neon Funeral. Next Thursday at 8:30PM, catch this free performance with all the best local metal artists. For more details, head here.

December 12th — 2nd Annual Jeremy Beck’s Wintertide at 8:00PM @ Saint Ann Catholic Church 

On Thursday the 12th, composer Jeremy Beck will host the second annual Wintertide at Hoboken’s Saint Ann Catholic Church {704 Jefferson Street}. Tickets are $30 and all proceeds go to the Family Promise of Hudson County. The show starts at 8:00PM and you can check out more information here.

December 13th Strangers Stopping Strangers at 7:30PM @ Headroom

December 14th — Holiday Party and Benefit for WFMU at 5:00PM @ Monty Hall

Four artists will perform on stage at Monty Hall in Jersey City later this month as a holiday party and benefit for WFMU radio station. Performances start at 6:00PM with Juniper, Laura Cantrell, Girls on Grass, and The Piggies. Tickets are $12 and pizza + eggnog will be available for attendees. See more details here.

December 14th — October Rose at 7:00PM @ Mike’s Wild Moose Saloon

Country-rock duo October Rose will perform at Mike’s Wild Moose Saloon in Hoboken next Saturday at 7:00PM. Leanne Weiss and Derek Allan started making music together in North Jersey in 2016. The event is free and you can find more information here.

 December 15th — Laura Stevenson at 8:00PM @ Monty Hall

On Sunday the 15th, New York singer-songwriter Laura Stevenson will be on stage at Monty Hall. The music in her most recent album “The Big Freeze” features cellos, French horns, violins, and other instruments that highlight her indie sound. Tickets are $15 and concert doors open at 7:00PM. December 15th — Annual Holiday Family Concert at 1:30PM @ the Hoboken Fire Museum

An annual sing-along, the Holiday Family Concert will be held at the downtown Hoboken Fire Museum on Sunday the 15th at 1:30PM. All families are invited to attend to hear local musicians play classic holiday tunes {and join in, too!}. The event is sponsored by the Hoboken Family Alliance and the Hoboken Historical Museum.  December 20th — Amish Outlaws at 11:00PM @ Willie McBride’s 

Straight out of Lancaster, Pennsylvania {at least four of them}, the Amish Outlaws cover songs by Jay Z, Lady Gaga, Elvis Presley, and almost everything on pop culture radio. Their story is exactly what the band’s name suggests — they left the Amish lifestyle for the real world. Make sure you check them out at Willie McBride’s — they’ll be in full Amish garb! December 20th — Castles in the Sky at 9:30PM @ Elysian Cafe

Uptown French bistro Elysian Cafe often hosts live music events, and this month Castles in the Sky will perform at 9:30PM. An indie rock duo, Christian and Sarah are multi-instrumentalists, MCs, DJs, and more. For more event details, see the Facebook event here.

December 21st — Event Horizon at 11:00PM @ Willie McBride’s

Try not to lose your voice because The Event Horizon knows not only the hits from each decade but from each genre. The band plays songs from 2000’s hip-hop, EDM, ’80s, and country. These five members and their high energy are sure to make your night at Willie McBride’s memorable. See more information here.

December 26th — Sophie Buskin, Avi Wisnia, and David Buskin at 8:00PM @ Fox and Crow 

Celebrate the holidays with guitarist Sophie Buskin and special guests Avi Wisnia and David Buskin at the Fox and Crow later this month at 8:00PM. The Brooklyn-based artist will perform hits from her first solo CD, “Sweet Creature.” For more details, head here.

December 27th — Skyline Salsa Band at 8:00PM @ FM

Get your salsa on with Skyline Salsa Band, a 13-member ensemble guaranteed to bring the rhythm to the dance floor. FM will host Skyline on Friday the 27th at 8:00PM. There will be a $5 cover at the door — view more details here.

December 27th – MykeSouL Collective at 9:00PM @ The Shep

Check out psychedelic meets soul meets pop band MykeSouL, led by Mike Casson, at the Shepherd & the Knucklehead on the last Saturday of the month. Celebrate the last few days of 2019 with this local artist. MykeSouL’s newest LP “Rare Fruit” is now streaming on all platforms including Spotify and Apple Music. See more information here.

December 28th — Almost Easy at 11:00PM @ Willie McBride’s

Almost Easy is back at Willie McBride’s. More than just a band, they are a full form of entertainment. December 29th — NRBQ at 8:00PM @ Monty Hall

Four-man band NRBQ will perform at Monty Hall on Sunday the 29th starting at 8:00PM. They’ve been described as a n “early R&B, hardcore country, novelty songs, and rockabilly by seizing the improvisational energy of jazz.” NRBQ even served as the unofficial house band for The Simpsons seasons 10 through 12. December 31st — RUBBLEBUCKET at 9:00PM @ White Eagle Hall
