It’s the last full month of summer, but have no fear. Hudson County has saved the best live performances for August and you don’t want to miss them. Enjoy the empty bars and restaurants on the weekend for a few weeks longer, and support these talented local artists too.  Read on to discover all the live music events in Hoboken + Jersey City in August 2019.

August 1st — Sean Kiely Acoustic Trio at 8:00PM @ Fox and Crow

Club Pilates 2023

This Thursday, join the Sean Kiely Acoustic Trio at the Fox and Crow in Jersey City for a night of inviting folk music and historical nuances on his 2018 EP “It Sure Was Good.” He will be accompanied by Maddie Witler on mandolin and Bobby McCullough on upright bass. August 1st — Jersey City Heights: Free Concert at 7:00PM

For an outdoor venue, attend a free concert in the JC Heights on Thursday at 7:00PM in Leonard Gordon Park Conservancy on JFK Boulevard. Performers will include rock bands Abstract Artimus, The Penniless Loafers, and Swilson. Additional details can be found at the Facebook event here.

August 2nd — Three Days of Peace and Music at 8:00PM @ White Eagle Hall

From July 31st to August 2nd, Jersey City will host various bands and artists at different locations across the area hosted by ALEOproductions. The finale will be at White Eagle Hall celebrating the anniversary of the original Woodstock Celebration of Peace and Love in summer 1969. Artists attending include Sylvana Joycet, the Love Network, and the ALEOcollective who will be performing the set list from Woodstock. Doors open at 7:30PM and tickets are $25. August 3rd — Roxanne, All-Female Police Tribute Band at 8:00PM @ FM

Roxanne is an all-female Police tribute band based in North Jersey and New York. Named after the rock band’s infamous track “Roxanne,” these three ladies will shut the house down at FM Restaurant, Bar, and Lounge on Saturday in downtown Jersey City at 8:00PM. August 11th — Purple Mountains at 8:00PM @ White Eagle Hall

The former frontman of Silver Jews David Berman returns with his new crew Purple Mountains, an indie rock band with a hauntingly beautiful sound. They are introducing themselves with a single “All My Happiness is Gone,” off of their soon-to-come album. Doors open at 7:00PM and tickets are $30. August 13th — Rainbow Revue with Lillian Bustle at 8:30PM @ FM

A Jersey City Pride Festival event, FM will host a drag and burlesque show with body-positive performer Lillian Bustle on Tuesday, August 13th. Enjoy prizes from local vendors and other surprise guests on stage. Tickets are $12 cash or Venmo and part of the proceeds will benefit the Hudson Pride Center. The event is first-come, first-serve and doors open at 7:00PM. Get more info about this event here

August 16th — Anthony Fuscaldo Group at 10:00PM @ Fox and Crow

Guitarist Anthony Fuscaldo will perform at the Fox and Crow at 10:00PM on the third Friday of this month. With a unique style and appreciation for music, he has shared the stage with great jazz musicians like saxophonist Dan Faulk and songwriter + producer PJ Bianco. Anthony is joined by vocalist Audra Mariel, upright bassist Adrian Moring, drummer Eric Hallenbeck, and keyboardist Nick Masters. For more information, check out the Facebook event here.

August 17th — IMFACT at 7:00PM @ White Eagle Hall

KPOP boy band IMFACT will hold their first U.S. meet + greet at White Eagle Hall later this month. The five-member group’s first song “Lollipop” debuted in 2016 and now they’re showing off their talent for international fans. Doors open at 6:30PM and tickets range from $69 to $149 for VIP perks. August 22nd and 23rd — Fringe Fest at 8:00PM @ FM

Another awesome kickoff for the Jersey City Pride Festival, FM will host Fringe Fest during the fourth weekend of the month. Local personal trainer Evan Laurence will MC a night of over 10 talented performers including celebrity DJ Chauncey D. Tickets are $10 and for more information, see details here.

August 24th — Ted Leo and the Pharmacists at 8:30PM @ White Eagle Hall

Songwriter Ted Leo began making music in the ‘90s era of power-punk and he hasn’t stopped since. His newest solo album “The Hanged Man” will be showcased at White Eagle Hall on the fourth Saturday of August. Doors open at 7:30PM and tickets range from $20 to $22. Check out more information here.

August 28th — Unlawful Assembly at 8:00PM @ Fox and Crow

Alternative artists Walter Parks, Vivian Sessoms, and Chris Parks will perform at the Fox and Crow as Unlawful Assembly on the last Wednesday of the month. Enjoy soulful jazz mixed with upbeat rock at this intimate venue. The event runs until 10:00PM and for more information, check out the Facebook event here.

August 29th — Surfer Blood at 9:00PM @ Monty Hall

Showcasing their fourth album Snowdonia, this group will hit the stage at Monty Hall on the last Thursday of the month. Surfer Blood consists of singer and guitarist John Paul Pitts, drummer Tyler Schwarz, guitarist Michael McCleary, and bassist Lindsey Mill. They all graduated from the same high school in West Palm Beach, Florida. Get $15 tickets to their Jersey City performance here.
