NYC was doing it, and now Hudson County’s on board. For the last few nights, residents across Hudson County have taken to their balconies, windows, and doorsteps to participate in a countywide gesture of appreciation via applause and song. It was an amazing turnout — residents clapped their hands in applause, banged on pots + pans to make noise as a sign of their gratitude, and turned up Frank Sinatra tunes. Now, we’re asking for everyone to do it again…and again, and again. Join us nightly to thank our health heroes — here are the details:
The Playlist
All right, here’s the situation — every night at 7:00PM, join Hudson County {yes, all of HC — we’re looking at you Hoboken, Jersey City, Bayonne, North Bergen, West New York, Union City, Secaucus, Kearny, Harrison, Weehawken, Guttenberg, and East Newark} in a countywide moment of appreciation via applause + song.
The Nightly Cheer: How It Works
For the first 15-30 seconds, clap right at 7:00PM, and then turn on your song for the neighborhood to hear {bonus points if you have a big speaker!}.
Right now, our healthcare workers are working on the frontlines of this pandemic and continue to put their own health + safety at risk to benefit ours. In that case, the least we could do as a county is say thank you + spread a little cheer.

Daily, we’ll be announcing the song at noon our social media/website just to keep spirits up — so make sure to check our social platforms or bookmark this post. Have a request? Email us! hello@hobokengirl.com. We’re trying to do a mix of oldies, new songs, all inspirational and fun — the messages we hear from local nurses and doctors about how much this means to them has been wonderful. Let’s keep the energy up!
Spreading the Word
Feel free to share the graphic above with song picks and this post with neighbors and friends. This is the very least we could do to cheer for our healthcare workers, and want them to know that the support we are giving them is holding strong. If you take a video or photo, make sure to tag us @thehobokengirl on Instagram for a reshare – and email any videos to hello@hobokengirl.com.

If these videos aren’t enough to get you inspired, then we’re sure the actual applause + sing along you hear tonight will. So remember — all of Hudson County, tonight, at 7:00PM. Warm-up your hands. so you can clap super loudly, procure a noisemaker of sorts {we’re fans of pots + pans}, and grab your speakers. Regardless of your preferred noise-making method, the goal here is to simply say thank you to those right there on the front lines. We’ll hear from you tonight at 7:00PM.
