If you’ve wanted to become a yogi but haven’t been quite sure how to get started, look no further than Hudson Yoga Project, located at 44 Hudson Place, 4th floor. The community-focused yoga studio in Hoboken not only offers classes for all levels, but it also has teacher training programs to give beginners and advanced students alike the lowdown on the fundamentals of Vinyasa-style yoga. Bonus: the classes are perfect for those of you who just want to learn more about the practice of yoga — even if you have no intention of becoming a teacher. Here’s a peek inside the studio:

Patrick Franco, along with Curtis Berger, founded Hudson Yoga Project to create a welcoming yoga studio with the most experienced instructors in the area. They have classes for all levels and also offer 5-week Beginner’s Series to help new students learn how to get started with yoga. So whether you’ve never held a child’s pose before or you’ve been practicing for most of your life, you’ll feel just as comfortable and welcomed as the person next to you. Patrick and the team’s goal is to know everyone’s name when they walk in the door!

HYP is a vinyasa yoga studio {that’s the kind that gets you flowing throughout the class} and is unique in that all teachers on staff have been trained in the same style of vinyasa. So, no matter what class you take, you can expect to have the same great experience.

While all classes at the studio have a similar feel, they focus on different goals. For example, there’s a prenatal class for moms-to-be so they can practice helpful poses for birthing, or there’s yin yoga too which is more restorative in nature and helps you to get a deep stretch to increase flexibility. And all of the instructors are top-notch, so you’re in the best hands. Many of the teachers have taught at studios in NYC, Hoboken, and Jersey City, so they have a ton of experience {we’re talking decades for some} under their belts.

HYP is focused on being a teaching school and offers both 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Programs {that’s the first level of training} and a 300-Hour Yoga Teacher Training {that’s the advanced training meant for people who already teach yoga}.

One interesting thing Patrick mentioned was that 50% of people in a 200-hour training don’t want to teach yoga and actually sign up just to learn more yoga and take some time for themselves. Whether you want to actually teach yoga, or if you’re looking to amp up your yoga skills, there are two upcoming 200HR teacher trainings: a weekend session in the spring {March 3-May 19} and summer intensive training {Four Weeks from 8-5 PM Monday-Friday, July 9th-August 3rd}.

Plus, you get three FREE months of classes at HYP when you register for the training. The sessions cost $3500, and if the lump sum isn’t in your budget right now, HYP will work with you to make a payment plan. If you still have questions about the teacher training program, make sure to head to the info session on February 11th at 2pm {insider tip: sign up and attend to get $300 off the training}.

Already had training at a different studio? HYP offers an apprentice program, where people who have taken a teacher training at another studio can study one-on-one with a senior teacher and learn the  Vinyasa style that HYP specializes in.
