Hoboken residents won’t have to go far to experience World Cup excitement. The City of Hoboken and the Hoboken Business Alliance (HBA) announced a 12-day-long celebration in and around Hoboken during the World Cup. There will be community events, live match screenings, and soccer activations for children. Read on for more about the Hoboken community World Cup events.
Summer Celebrations
The 12-day series of festivities will take the form of rotating block parties in six pop-up neighborhood fan zones. Each family-friendly Big Match Block Party will feature live match screenings, food and drinks from local businesses, local retailers, and live entertainment.
“The World Cup is coming, and Hoboken is ready,” said Mayor Emily B. Jabbour. “Our block parties are a time-honored tradition built on community, neighbors, small businesses, artists, and families who give this city its heart. This summer, we’re opening our streets to the world and celebrating the people who make the Mile Square City so great. Whether you are a soccer fan or not, everyone is welcome to come and take part in the fun.”

“The Hoboken Business Alliance is proud to partner with the City of Hoboken as the World Cup comes to New Jersey, bringing excitement to soccer fans from around the world,” said James Runkle, President of the Hoboken Business Alliance Board of Trustees. “With fan zones across the state and here in Hoboken, the energy of the tournament will carry into our streets, where residents, visitors, and local businesses come together to celebrate the games. Hoboken has long been a robust business hub and a dynamic destination in its own right, and this summer will put both on full display.”
The six fan zones will rotate across Hoboken’s neighborhoods throughout 12 weekend and evening match days starting on June 13.
The fan zone locations are as follows:
– Zone 1: First Street between Washington Street and Garden Street
– Zone 2: 10th Street between Park Avenue and Willow Avenue, Garden Street and Bloomfield Street, and Bloomfield Street and Washington Street
– Zone 3: Grand Street between 14th and 15th Streets, including under the Viaduct
– Zone 4: 14th Street between Bloomfield Street and Washington Street, and between Washington Street and Hudson Street
– Zone 5: Sinatra Drive between First Street and Fourth Street
– Zone 6: Adams Street between Fifth Street and Sixth Street
Programming will culminate on July 19, during the World Cup Finals, with expanded celebrations across Zone 1 and Zone 4 along First Street and 14th Street.
