Maybe your New Year’s Resolution is to get out more, or maybe you’ve realized your social circle has changed throughout the pandemic. There are tons of great things to do in Hudson County but sometimes with everyone’s busy schedules, it’s hard to find time to meet up with friends. Hoboken resident Kiri Cormack founded the Hoboken Social Club in October 2021 with the goal of giving community members the opportunity to meet up in a low-key setting and explore all there is to do. From holiday-themed events to whiskey tastings, the Hoboken Social Club has been gathering friends and soon-to-be friends all over Hudson County. Read on to learn more about The Hoboken Social Club.

How the Club Came About

The Hoboken Social Club was founded in October 2021 by Kiri Cormack, who has been living in Hoboken for the past four years. Her idea of establishing the group stemmed from her passion for hosting parties and introducing groups of friends to other friends.

“I wanted to continue doing [what I love] but on a larger scale. I also love the dynamic of a coed mix of people since that’s the mix I normally hang out with,” Kiri shares with Hoboken Girl while adding, “It’s hard to meet and make friends organically nowadays.”

Starting The Hoboken Social Club was something new that Kiri, a personal trainer, and musician believed was missing from the community. “There were plenty of options for women groups, but there weren’t many options for men or coed opportunities,” Kiri says. “I wanted to provide an opportunity for all people to be able to participate in outings to get together for fun activities!”

The founder calls HSC the “perfect place” for people who want to be part of a coed group of “genuine, fun-loving adults” that want to hang out with and get to know and become more involved with their community.

The Type of Events Hosted

The Hoboken Social Club has had a mix of events since launching from karaoke and trivia night to whiskey and wing nights and margaritas and taco nights. All meetups, as Kiri mentioned, are open to anyone, any age, men and women, singles and couples. There have even been dedicated singles parties and couples’ events.

For the holidays, the social club likes having creative holiday-themed events like the recent Valentine’s Day event called Cupid + Cocktails Night, and a December event called Jingle & Mingle. There are also tailgate parties like the recent Jets vs. Dolphins tailgate that took place at the MetLife Stadium.

“The Hoboken Holiday party was a highlight for HSC because we were able to work with local vendors, venues, and talent. As a local social club, we want to provide opportunities to give back to the community and truly take part in all it has to offer!” the founder of Fitness by Kiri shares.

Not only does the social club connect with various restaurants in town to host events (like Fat Taco, The Stewed Cow, 10th & Willow), it also partners with the Jersey City club, Jersey City Connects.

“Coming up we will have a St. Patrick’s Day event, cooking classes, a puppy party meet-up (for all dog lovers, not just owners), and so much more. We’re excited to be able to start incorporating more outdoor activities [in the springtime],” Kiri tells HG

Become A Member

The Hoboken Social Club has started out with 20 people gatherings to 50-plus people gatherings. The Facebook group recently reached a milestone of 500 members. To join a meetup and become a member, all you have to do is RSVP through the group’s Eventbrite page. “There is a great group of regular attendees that consistently show up and we have developed great relationships that continue to grow,” Kiri, who greets every new and old member upon arrival, says. “We like to have a cadence of one event per week, so as to keep up the momentum but not overwhelm our already busy schedules.”
