Hoboken Originals: All About {RAW: natural born artists}

Written by:

Last week, I attended a very cool art show hosted by the Jersey City collective of RAW: natural born artists.

RAW is an international and independent arts organization that features and supports local emerging artists in fine art, fashion, music, film, performing art, hair, makeup and photography. They host frequent art showcases in lots of cities, including Hoboken!

Their most recent showcase, AWAKENING was held at Boa in downtown Hoboken, which was transformed into a living artist community – with plenty of space to roam through aisles of prints, paintings, photographs, and jewelry, stop and listen to musicians, watch a fashion show, and interact freely with each artist.

Their next event is SPECTRUM, on April 17th at Boa in Hoboken. Tickets are available here: http://www.rawartists.org/jersey/spectrum

I highly recommend a refreshing break from the regular bar scene, grabbing some friends and trying something different for a night out in Hoboken. (You can still dress to impress, and there’s a cash bar.) You’ll be supporting local independent artists, and you might walk away with a new favorite! I snagged this funky little bird print painted by Robyn Thompson, an artist out of Paterson, NJ.

Jen is the founder and Editor-in-Chief of HobokenGirl.com. With deep entrepreneurial roots in Hudson County — as her grandparents owned textile businesses on Tonnelle Ave in North Bergen dating back to the 50s — she started the site as a Hoboken resident to discover the amazing things happening in the area. When not planning the next Hoboken Girl event or #HobokenGirlHelps volunteer project, she can usually be found shopping at local boutiques, eating an Insta-worthy meal, walking her two pups, or watching Bravo TV and ordering takeout with her husband.
