    Written by:

We all know Hoboken can be an expensive place to live and socialize. With over 100 restaurants and bars in the mile-square, it’s tempting to spend your entire bank account on food, drinks and fun. But, before you blow all your dough, take a look at these specials. We’ve put together a list of places around town with deals that will have you saying, “I’ve got it!” when the check comes every night of the week. Here’s how to wine and dine in Hoboken on a budget:

    Monday

    the madison hoboken

The MadisonThe Madison is so much more than just a cool place to grab a drink on Saturday night. Check out their “1st Seating” special every night of the week from 5:00-7:00PM. Mondays are a special treat as the “1st Seating” option lasts all night. For just $20, you will get a three-course meal with delicious options including fried calamari, hanger steak, and flourless chocolate molten cake.

Biggie’s — When hunger pangs set in as you step off the PATH {we’ve been there too}, stop in to Biggie’s any night of the week for one of the best happy hours in town. Select apps and sliders are just $5 from 3:00-7:00PM. They also have a Beer of the Day that is offered for a discounted rate each day.

Court Street — This hidden gem nestled on 6th between Hudson and Washington packs a whole lot of flavor at great prices. On Mondays they celebrate Prime Rib night. Enjoy soup or salad followed a prime rib, potatoes and a veggie for just $21.95. Court Street also offers various wine-tasting events, prix fixe menus for holidays, and daily dining specials, so be sure to visit their site regularly.

    Tuesday

Bow Tie Cinemas — Not all specials are found at restaurants. On Tuesdays, check out the latest films to hit the big screen at Bow Tie Cinemas for Super Tuesday. $7 movie tickets and $5 large popcorn makes for a cheap date night {+ you get to watch an awesome flick}.

Ainsworth Everyone knows that Tuesdays are the best days for tacos, and so does Ainsworth. They offer ½-priced tacos and $5 Mexican beers all day long.

East LA — If you only partake in Taco Tuesdays for the margs, head over to East LA on Washington St. You can grab a margarita {frozen or on the rocks} for just $6 or a beer {bottle or draft} for $4. If you’re looking for a little grub to go with those drinks, their apps are half-priced, so you’re in luck.

    Wednesday

10th & Willow — A dinner date night can sometimes be pricey, but it doesn’t have to be when you go to 10th & Willow. Select entrees are half off on Wednesdays. Two for the price of one is sure to score you a second date.

Birch Shake It Baby! This is the motto of Birch — the restaurant/bar/night club that is quickly becoming a Hoboken staple. Check out their crazy milkshakes with fun names like “It’s Mint to Be” and “Strawberry Short Shake.” Mention Hoboken Girl any day of the week when ordering a milkshake and add a free alcoholic spike to turn your childhood favorite milkshake into a grown-up treat.

Hoboken Bar & Grill — If sports bar food is more your speed, make a pit stop at Hoboken Bar & Grill for Wing Night Wednesdays. At just $6 for wings, $12 bottles of wine, and $10 for a domestic pitcher, you really can’t go wrong.

    Thursday

    house of que hoboken

House of Que They don’t call it Thirsty Thursday for nothing. Hoboken has some of the best happy hour locations, and Thursdays are an extra special treat. House of Que offers half-priced frozen margaritas including classic or strawberry.

The Shepherd and the Knucklehead They sure know how to keep the tequila flowing here. Grab a margarita pitcher or a tequila flight for $15 a piece — paired with tacos for $2 each, and you have yourself a fun and cheap night.

Court Street Restaurant & Bar — If you like to eat dinner earlier to beat the crowds, this is the spot for you. From 4:30-6:30PM, Court Street Restaurant & Bar {on 6th Street} offers early dining specials. For $21.95, you will get a 3-course meal that includes choices like eggplant parmesan, beef burgundy, and homemade fudge brownie.

The Stewed Cow — After a long week, you sometimes need a good, hearty meal. If that’s what you are in the mood for on a Friday night, then The Stewed Cow is your place. Fridays are exclusive to a full Texas Prime Rib dinner with “all the trimmings” at a cool $26.

Urban Coalhouse Head uptown anytime between noon and 7pm to kick off your Friday night. $3 Domestic Drafts and $5 imported beers, wine and well drinks will get to get the part started and keep it going all weekend. Jordan and Joelle are true Jersey Girls. Originally hailing from down the shore in Hazlet, NJ, the girls made their "rite of passage" move to Hoboken a few short years after graduating with degrees in Communications from Loyola University. Outside of their 9-5 as senior publishers in NYC, the twins can be found walking their yorkie-poo Chica, working out at the best hot yoga studios, or trying out the best restaurants in town. Like many 20-somethings, Jordan and Joelle are balling on a budget and know how to score the best deals around town!

    • An absolute must-read article for anyone that does not have incremental funds to eat their way through Hoboken (but is dying to try!) I will add these to my list! Amazing job, well done.

    • One town over, but definitely worth mentioning–the happy hour at Molos (Weehawken) is not to be missed. Truly allows you to live that champagne life on a 7UP budget. My beau and I go for the fish tacos, olive & cheese spread at happy hour, and signature cocktails (hit up Ladies Night on Thursdays).

    • How can there be a list like this without mentioning Northern Soul!?!
With specialty cocktails, seasonal food, dietary restrictive accommodations like vegan/vegetarian/gluten free, special events like trivia Tuesdays and open mic nights Wednesday’s, AND FREE PARKING… it is a MUST!
