New Jersey’s own Garden State Rollergirls Intraleague Championship competition is this Saturday and with Jersey City Bridge and Pummel protecting their title on their home turf in the finals, the event’s sure to be a crowd pleaser.

There’s a lot on the line as Jersey City Bridge and Pummel goes into this Saturday’s 2018 Intraleague Championship. After winning in both 2016 and 2017, Jersey City Bridge and Pummel now hopes to defend their status as two-time home-team champions as they roll up against the Northern Nightmares.

“JCB&P has won the past two home team championships, but we lost to the Nightmares in our season opener this year,” said Bridge and Pummel Captain ShenAnakin Skywalker. “When we rematch them in September, we’ll bring a new level of skill and prove that we deserve a third year at the top.”

But as is the way of roller derby, the Northern Nightmares do not plan to go down without a fight. After all, winning this match against Jersey City Bridge and Pummel would mark the first time NN has snagged the championship since 2015.

“It’ll be a hard-fought game for sure,” said Nightmares captain Monsoon Mandy. “But we fully intend to leave the track having finally reclaimed the championship title.”
