The pandemic has turned lives, jobs, and businesses upside down, forcing many to shift strategies and rethink careers. Brittley Montanaro, a Hoboken resident, and former fashion buyer decided to use this time and find what she was truly passionate about. After losing her corporate job in the fashion industry, she decided that this was the perfect time to start her new journey as an entrepreneur with her styling business, Go Glam or Go Home.

The Background

Brittley Montanaro grew up in Stratford, Connecticut, where her love of fashion began. “My Grandma used to work at David’s Bridal. She would pick me up from school, and I would spend the rest of the day at her work, so I was always around fashion and clothes,” Britt reminisces. Britt always knew that fashion was the industry she was mean to work in, so she studied Fashion Merchandising at Marist College. After she graduated school, Brittley moved to Hoboken and pursued a career as a buyer for department stores such as Macy’s, Saks, and Lord & Taylor.

Fast forward to 2020, and the pandemic hits. Like many others, the fashion industry was severely hurt by the pandemic, and many companies, including Brittley’s, were forced to restructure and let talented people go. Rather than allowing a job loss get her down, Britt used this opportunity to finally start her styling gig, which she had wanted to do for a while. “I decided it was time to make margaritas out of the limes you’re given, as Bethenny Frankel would say,” Britt laughs.

Britt loved buying, but does not look back, and hopes to grow her new business enough to make it full-time. “I always knew I was not meant to have a normal sit-down desk job,” she explains, “I enjoy running around too much. I actually teach at diamond gymnastics just to get extra energy out after the week!”

Go Glam or Go Home officially launched on August 26th.

The Services

go glam or go home

Brittley offers personal styling, closet organization, and closet shopping as her three main services with Go Glam or Go Home. Britt’s personal styling service can be done in-person or virtually and begins with a free consultation to discuss price points, trends, items to avoid, events coming up, so on, and so forth. Once Britt has enough information, she will get to work and put together a google doc with photos, guidelines, and links to items she will choose for her clients to purchase if they would like to do so!

Britt will go to a client’s home with closet shopping, browse through their clothes, and help the client style outfits with clothing they already own. “For example, one client had all of these fall clothes, as well as summer stuff, but didn’t know how to pair them with the weather still being so warm. So I went through and made several fall transitional looks from top to bottom,” Britt explains. “I will also make sure each client feels comfortable in their clothes.”

Lastly, closet organization is a service for clients who need a little help parting ways with items they no longer need or wear. Britt will help clients organize their space with things worth keeping and suggest items to get rid of to make their closet feel fresh.

Britt offers hourly rates as well as combination deals.
