Washington Street is a revolving door for businesses. Just yesterday, on September 3rd, Galatea at 1224 Washington Street announced its impending closure at the end of the year, and now Bon Banh, a Vietnamese restaurant located at 506 Washington Street, seems to be closed. Read on for what to know about Bon Banh’s possible closure in Hoboken, New Jersey.
Bon Banh’s Closure
On September 3rd, 2025, The Hoboken Girl received a DM on Instagram from a reader claiming that Bon Bahn in Hoboken had closed.

“Bon Bahn on Washington Street seems to have gone out of business,” the message said. “…They were closed with no sign posted yesterday, and today, when I walked by, a crew was emptying the restaurant. I asked if it was closed permanently, and they said yes.”
Another reader who connected with HG via social media said, “I was a regular customer there. They were running [at] a loss, so they had to sell it to someone else.”
Bon Banh’s Google listing still claims it’s open, so naturally, the HG team conducted our own investigation. A phone number listed for the restaurant was inoperable. Yesterday, when we walked past the restaurant, we found an almost empty storefront. The following day, we called the restaurant only to discover that the number had gone out of service.
HG has reached out to Bon Banh, and though there has yet to be direct confirmation from the Bon Banh team, it appears that the restaurant is permanently closed.
About Bon Banh
Vietnamese restaurant Bon Banh first opened in Hoboken in the former Stacks Pancake House space on May 10th, 2022. Serving Vietnamese-style rice bowls, burgers, sandwiches, and summer rolls, the spot was owned by Tony and Kathy Kim, the same husband-and-wife duo behind Angela’s Sandwich Shop in NYC, which closed its doors at 1428 6th Avenue during the height of the pandemic in 2021.
The inspiration for Bon Banh came from the owner’s previous deli. “We did Banh Mi sandwiches at our place in NYC. It did very well, so we just kind of took that idea and brought it over to Hoboken,” Kathy told HG in 2022. “We thought we could take the Banh Mi sandwich and do something where we can incorporate more Vietnamese food and bring it to Hoboken.”
