Hoboken Location
On Thursday, September 11th, The Hoboken Girl received a message from a reader regarding the Hoboken Bluemercury location. The reader shared an email from Bluemercury, notifying customers that the Hoboken location would be closing over the weekend. The email read “Bluemercury Hoboken is closing for good on Sunday, September 14th. But when one door closes, there’s another one open nearby…” The HG team then called Bluemercury, and a store representative confirmed the permanent closure.

Bluemercury originally announced plans to come to Hoboken in 2017. The original space, located at 313 Washington Street, eventually became the home of Lululemon. Instead, in 2022, Bluemercury opened at 230 Washington Street, a 5,400 square foot location that was previously part of Hoboken Bar + Grill. It’s unknown what business will occupy the space next. We’ve previously declared Hoboken the unofficial beauty capital of New Jersey, so we’re excited to see what will come.
About Bluemercury
Bluemercury sells skincare, makeup, and hair care products in luxurious but approachable settings. There are currently 185 locations nationwide. The brand was founded in 1999 by Marla Malcolm Beck and her husband, Barry Beck, in Washington, DC. In 2015, the brand was purchased by Macy’s, Inc. Bluemercury now operates as a ‘store within a store’ in many Macy’s locations, and has been a consistent high-performing segment for Macy’s brands.
While many brands you know and love (Bumble & Bumble, Oribe, Bobbi Brown, Jo Malone, Kiehl’s, etc) are sold in the store, Bluemercury’s proprietary line, M-61, is a customer favorite. Bluemercury also works with up-and-coming brands to launch new products.
