Since we first broke the news that It Ends With Us would be filming in Hoboken, many locals have had eyes peeled for Blake Lively + Justin Baldoni, the two celebs sharing the spotlight in this Colleen Hoover novel-inspired movie. On May 17th, the pair of stars made their Mile Square debut, and were spotted filming outside of Field Colony art gallery. And while that’s quite exciting for our little city, there was a third, fourth, and fifth spotting of A-list celebs this week in Hoboken  — including none other than Vince Vaughn and Susan Sarandon — though their involvement in the project is unconfirmed — as well as Billy Crystal, shooting a different pilot uptown. All that being said, a recap is in order, because five Hollywood stars in one Mile Square is a lot to take in, all on the heels of the Vanderpump Rules finale. Read on for everything we know about Blake Lively, Justin Baldoni, Susan Sarandon, Billy Crystal, and Vince Vaughn’s appearances in Hoboken this week.

On May 17th at about 10AM, messages from readers starting pouring in with pictures + videos from the 10th + Bloomfield set. First came Justin, who has been spotted in Hudson County quite a bit recently (on April 2nd, Justin paid a visit to bwè kafe for a seminar on ” wellness, creativity, spirituality,” and Justin’s recent book, “Man Enough”).

Then, Blake Lively arrived on scene, sporting the red hair she’s adopted to portray Lily Bloom in the movie. One reader snapped a photo of Blake + Justin hugging — see the photo below.

Locals continued to scope out the set, and at one point, there was an estimated 200 people purveying the “It Ends With Us” stage. Still, readers described the cast as kind — some Hoboken residents even snapped selfies with Justin.

Though Vince Vaughn is a known director, it’s unclear at this time if he’s involved in the It Ends With Us project, or a different project. Still, Vince was seen again on May 17th,  downtown on Washington + 3rd Streets. Perhaps he’s on his way back to Basile’s for a second slice — we’ve all been there.

On May 18th, Vince Vaughn and Susan Sarandon were both spotted at uptown Italian spot Sorellina by various The Hoboken Girl readers. Vince was then spotted by another reader at the W Hotel, dare we say ‘crashing’ the Hoboken PEF gala that was going on.

The same day, Billy Crystal was also spotted uptown by Maxwell, filming his new pilot, Winston by several readers.

A Series of It Ends With Us Events

On May 4th, Readers shared updates from their buildings in Hoboken with us — with one building’s notification sharing details about the film shoot at the Hudson Tea buildings. As it turns out, this film crew is actually for a movie called Relay, which will star Lily James, Sam Worthington, and Riz Ahmed, per Deadline.

However, Colleen Hoover’s novel-turned-film It Ends With Us started filming in Hoboken on 10th + Bloomfield, with the project originally wrapping up its Hoboken set on Friday, May 12th — the project was latere extended until this Thursday, May 18th. See the most current signage from the crew below.

On May 12th, Patch reported that Hoboken’s Field Colony art gallery was transformed into “Maya + Maxim, a homey-looking shop” on Thursday, May 11th. In the novel, the protagonist Lily opens a flower shop called Lily’s Blooms — while we’re unclear what role Maya + Maxim will play in the movie, we’re excited to find out.

Patch also reported that after the film’s Hoboken stint, the crew will be headed to Chatham, New Jersey, next week, though the production is headquartered in Jersey City.

The book follows a girl named Lily who has just moved and is ready to start her life after college. Lily then meets Ryle, falling for him. As she is developing feelings for Ryle, Atlas, her first love, reappears and challenges the relationship between Lily and Ryle.

The motion picture has been filming in Hoboken for the past two weeks and stars Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni.

“The fact that we are now discussing a movie that’s made from a book that was loosely inspired by my mother is bittersweet,” Hoover said. “Anyway, didn’t mean for this to turn into a sobfest. Our Lily is going to be played by Blake Lively. Blake Lively, y’all. She’s my dream Lily,” Colleen shared on her Instagram.

Regarding Justin Baldoni’s casting, she explained, “I just thought that he had what it takes to play that character,” she said. “The good news is he’s gonna be Ryle. So we have our Ryle and our Lily.”

“I think that Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively have what it takes to bring these characters to life,” Hoover added after revealing the two as being cast for the roles.
