Before the recent WGA strike, Hudson County was turning into a mini Hollywood — with filming and celeb spottings galore. After months of silence and the eventual end of the strike, these past month has proven that Hoboken and Jersey City continue to be popular filming locations for movies, TV show, and more. In January, we reported the news that It Ends With Us starring Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni returned to filming in Jersey City — complete with a Blake Lively sighting alongside her husband, Ryan Reynolds. Over the past few weeks, an upcoming Apple TV+ series starring Billy Crystal has also been spotted filming in Hoboken. The Details
The new Apple TV+ series, previously titled Before (though also referred to as Winston) first started filming in New Jersey in the spring of 2023, but was halted in June due to the WGA strike, per IMDB. Production presumed in January 2024, with the film crew arriving in Hoboken on Wednesday, January 10th. Per Patch, a Paramount sent a letter to Hoboken residents notifying that filming would take place on both Wednesday, January 10th, and Thursday, January 11th from 9AM-3PM on blocks bounded by Ninth Street, Tenth Street, Washington Street, and Frank Sinatra Drive along the north waterfront. Crews were scene filming in Brownstones on 9th Street.

Today, February 2nd, Billy Crystal and co. are back in The Mile Square and have blocked off several parts of Washington Street for filming, per Patch. HG readers have submitted photos of film crews between 12th + 13th Streets.

About Before
Before is a Paramount Studios production, and will premiere on Apple TV+ as a limited series with 10 episodes. The show stars Billy Crystal (who is also the executive producer), Judith Light, and Rosie Perez. Billy plays the character of Eli, a child psychiatrist who encounters a troubled young boy shortly after losing his wife. Judith plays the character of Lynn, Eli’s late wife. Eli soon finds out that his wife’s life was not at all what he thought. Per Deadline, the show is an atmospheric, character-driven physiological thriller.
