Two robberies over the weekend are keeping Hoboken residents on alert. While the two incidents took place in different parts of town, residents are encouraged to be vigilant and alert the Hoboken Police Department should they have information to share. Read on for more about what we know.

Per the Hoboken Police Department’s social media pages, the Hoboken Police Department is investigating two reports of robbery between 12:20 a.m. and 1 a.m. Saturday morning (November 8th).
The first incident took place on the 100 block of Hudson Street, where the victim reported that a dark skinned male, wearing a white jacket, grabbed her purse and ran off.
The second incident took place in the area of 7th and Garden Streets, where the victim described the actor as a tall, thin dark dark-skinned male, wearing black clothing and a white baseball cap, carrying a backpack. The actor grabbed the victim’s purse and ran off.

HPD encourages everyone to remember to always use caution while walking alone, especially during the late night and early morning hours. Consider carrying all personal items, like purses and cell phones, in front of you as an extra precaution.
A message was sent to the Stevens Institute community on November 10th. The message shared that a suspect involved in one of the robberies fled to the Stevens Campus, where he was observed breaking a lock that was securing a scooter to a bike rack. He then used the scooter to depart the area, going west on 6th Street toward Washington Street. Stevens students were encouraged to be vigilant about their physical safety and to secure their belongings.

On Thursday, November 11th, 2025, the Hoboken Police Department released three still images showing someone whom they believe to be a suspect in the robberies. HPD says that they believe that all three images show the same individual.
The original statement from HPD, on November 8th, described the suspect as “a tall, thin dark dark-skinned male, wearing black clothing and a white baseball cap.” The statement from Stevens Institute on November 10th described the suspect as “a light-skinned male wearing a black bucket hat, a multicolored jacket (black, white and green), black pants with white lettering on the left leg, crocs-style sandals, and carrying a black umbrella and a black backpack.”
Crime in Hoboken
Readers may recall that there was a similar spate of incidents that took place at the beginning of June 2025. The weekend of June 6th, 2025, started off with a robbery reported to the Hoboken Police Department. By the end of the weekend, a total of four robberies, similar in pattern, had been reported. The incidents took place in downtown Hoboken, and the victims were robbed of their personal belongings, such as purses and cell phones. One victim reported being grabbed by the neck.
On Friday night, June 6th, the incidents happened in the areas of: 2nd and Bloomfield Streets; 2nd and Park Streets; and 3rd and Adams Streets. Early Sunday morning, June 8th, an incident happened in the area of 8th and Jefferson Streets.
As of August 2025, a spokesperson for HPD shared, “As for the June robberies, two juveniles have been apprehended and charged with four counts of juvenile delinquency, conspiracy to commit robbery, and four counts of juvenile delinquency robbery. Two other juveniles remain at large and have each been charged with one count of juvenile delinquency, conspiracy to commit robbery, and one count of juvenile delinquency robbery. The two still at large are believed to be in New York State, and Hoboken Police are actively working to apprehend them.”
